Is there anything I can do?

Hi all.
FTM here, baby girl born 10/1.
For the past (almost) week, she has has some nasal congestion. She still eats and poops/pees, and sleeps well. HOWEVER, the sound of her congestion is killing me. She doesn't show signs of struggle, but I know breathing could be easier for her. I have cut dairy out of my diet (yesterday), used the nose frieda, bought her a humidifier, and have sprayed her nostrils with infant saline.
How long does this typically last? Is there anything else I could be doing? My doctoe zaid to just let it run its course, but I'm having problems doing so.

Thanks!
Chloe

  • You're doing all you can do. It's normal and she will be fine, just keep her doctor informed especially if you notice any changes. :)

  • Thank you! Have you experienced this? How long does this stuff usually last? I hate it.

You did a great job in making all the right adjustments as a first move! These changes take time though, and if your doc doesn't have any red flags then it's worth taking a deep breath and waiting to see if it works. Keep her/him informed if there's no progress later or worsening, but most importantly, don't turn yourself into a mess worrying. That rattle could be it loosening up.

    Edited for addition -
My SS always seems to be a bit worse for an hour before a good sneeze (or 3) kicks out everything from the meds and saline I gave him the night before.
  • It got better for like a day and then last night, the sound of her breathing got worse. I'm freaking out. I didn't think this is the type of thing to get worse before it gets better.
