Didn't drop with my first.. Getting a lot of crotch shots and lighten down the front of my legs right now at 33weeks. I'm beginning to wonder if I've "dropped".
I didn't notice, but my midwife told me I've already dropped, I'm 37 weeks and was telling her how I haven't had much heartburn and shortness of breath, she told me it's because baby is so low and already engaged. I've been having the crotch pains too, if I sit too fast I feel like I've sat on baby's head!
I think people put too much stock in the baby dropping. It really doesn't mean anything. Baby could be head down and low for weeks or might not engage until labor has been going on for a while.
You might notice it's easier to breathe when the baby gets lower and feel pressure down low. Crotch shots and lightning don't necessarily mean baby has dropped. It's just the way they are sitting- likely on a nerve.

I honestly don't remember dropping with either of mine. This time I am carrying low so if he drops he is gonna fall out (jk). No matter what you are going to feel more pressure as you get bigger because of the extra weight. And the baby pressing on nerves and punching or kicking certain nerves.
I never noticed that I 'dropped '. I think it was either gradual, or happened during labor so my my mind wouldn't have been focused on it. Sorry I can't help you.
lol I'm not concerned that I'm going into labor immediately and I realize that of course everyone eventually "drops". I was just wondering what it may feel like as I didn't experience it beforehand with my first.
This is my third and the only time I've noticeably dropped. I have no idea when it happened, I've just noticed and been told how low my belly suddenly is. My ribs don't feel any different but my MW said the baby is very long so it's still able to take up rib space. I take a weekly photo and that's the only way I could check the progress, there was a huge difference between week 34 and week 36 so at some point in there it must have happened!
Lots of pressure, more urge to pee, less rib Pressure, I never dropped with my first, Dropped at 37 with my second, think im beginning to lower with this one.
*When you sit on a sofa in your underwear and your Belly can cover your underwear to the point where you look naked.*
Not a STM, but baby has started to drop/engage according to OB. The only real difference I've noticed is I feel the baby's hiccups lower than usual, & I have a lot more pelvic pain.

This. I can feel his hiccups directly above my lady bits. That's really the only way I know he is lower.....37 weeks today.
Just came from my doctor's appointment and my guy has dropped & is engaged but I don't feel any different. Like PPs said, I do notice that I have to pee more often and that I have more pelvic pain but I just attributed that to being a few weeks from delivery.

All of this.
Labor is not predicted by dropping. When you have contractions that are getting more and more intense and closer together you are most likely in labor. If your water breaks, you are in labor or it will begin shortly.
Didn't actually ask if it was a sign of labor because I know it's not lol. I just wanted to know what it felt like when you dropped BEFORE going into labor. @mrsgabus answered my question perfectly. Thanks!
