freaking out about sono results

Hi lady's, I'm 20 weeks I went in to have my sonogram my doctor said that my baby head in legs were measuring small. I have to have a growth sono in 4 weeks. I'm scared because I don't know if this is normal..I know the baby has a lot of growing to do . so my question is have you guys ever experienced this.

  • I don't have any personal experience with this. However when my bff was pregnant with her first that happen. Her doc definatly freaked her out by telling her what it could mean. But she has a perfectly healthy 5 year old now and nothing was wrong. T&P everything's good
  • My DS measured small and he came out perfect. Every little person grows and develops a little differently. Try not to sweat it. Your little one has plenty of time to catch up!

  • Thank you lady's for the replys..I really appreciate it.
  • I just had something similar. My anatomy scan had shown that her head was measuring small and that there was something wrong with the measurements on the kidneys. I was to go back in a month but talked to 1 of the Dr's and they sent me to another facility that did more detailed/in depth measurement and that dealt with pregnancy specifically. Found out that everything is measuring correctly. Could you ask your Dr for a repeat ultrasound sooner or to go to another facility? I'll keep my fingers crossed that all is well for your baby!
  • When I was pregnant with my oldest, he measured "small" all together. I had a couple other growth scans and they told me he looked healthy, just small. They even said he wouldn't be any bigger than 6 lbs..... I had him at 40w4d and he was 7 lbs 4 oz 20 inches long.... He wasn't small at all! I now have a very tall (100 percentile for height) and healthy 2 year old (3 in February).
  • Lurking from March 16... My first measured small my entire pregnancy. He was born weighing 6 lbs 5 oz. He is 14 months now and still very petite. He is in the 2nd percentile for height and 5th percentile for weight (kid loves to eat though). Doctor isn't worried about it because he is staying on track. Some babes are just small. Try not to worry!
  • With DD we were told way after 20 weeks that her head and legs were too small and sent to specialist for more in depth ultrasound. The ultrasound showed everything was fine. I was induced at 39 weeks and DD ended up weighing only 5lbs 8oz. She did have trouble gaining weight until she started solid foods but there was nothing medically wrong causing her to not gain weight. Now she is a very happy very healthy 2 year old. Do not worry...I was mess worrying and in the end everything end up being fine.

  • Hopefully your next scan will show that things are normal. We are getting to the phase where there is a much greater range in the size and weights of our babies, so maybe your little one is just on the small end of the scale. Chin up!
