Becoming Pregnant After A Stillborn

Hi I Found Out I Was Pregnant About Two Weeks Ago. I Was Wondering If Anyone Knew If After You Had A Stillborn Would You Be Considered A High Risk Your Next pregnancy? My Doctor Said No But I Don't Think That's Right. I Lost My Son At 35 Weeks. I Went To My Doctor And They Could Find A Heart Beat. It Will Be 6 Months Since I Delivered Him On The 10th And I'm Scared Now That I'm Pregnant Again. Hope Someone Can Tell Me If They Know..

  • I am fairly certain you would be, I used to be an OB nurse. Been a few years so I am a little out of the OB game. I worked inpatient too, so I only saw delivery time nothing before, but I remember most were high risk and got extra monitoring their pregnancy. It could depend on the Doctor around here they are a lot more cautious. So sorry for your loss and hope for the best this time!
  • So sorry for you loss! I'd suggest at least interviewing another OB and getting a second opinion. I'd assume you would be high risk.

  • I suppose it may depend on what your practice considers "high risk".

If you disagree with how you're being handled, I encourage you to find another practice if possible - this is a very scary time and if it would even ease your worries knowing someone is following you more closely, that has a lot of value.

Talk to your OB/Doctor, don't hold anything back.

  • Thank You Everyone So Much!! I See My Regular Ob On The 12th If She Doesn't Monitor Me Better I Will Be Finding Another Ob!! Just Wanted To Make Sure It Wasn't Just Me..
  • I had a stullbirth of one of my twins at 35 weeks 5 years ago. This is my only pregnancy since. I am being highly monitored with blood tests and ultrasounds so far. Will discuss what we will do as I continue. Just going to my practice I have had for all of my kids. If they recommend a high risk I will go. If not i will make sure we have a plan to make me as comfortable as possible as we progress. Check ups. Ultrasounds. Non stress tests. Etc. hope that helps. Sorry for your loss.
