November 2015 Moms

My mum is driving me crazy!!!

I love the woman to death but we have very different personalities I'm very calm and collected and she's this big ball of anxious stress! I'm 36 weeks with baby number one lost my plug and have started having mild contractions but not close enough for me to go into hospital (advised by the hospital), she seriously will not leave me alone!! I had a 15 minute shower and she comes in to check on me 3 times!! Any noise or movement I make even if it's just getting comfortable in the chair she's jumping and asking what's wrong! I'm losing my mind I hate being fussed over! Am I being an ungrateful little shit or do others have overbareing mums driving them nuts right now?!

  • I am still only 33 weeks tomorrow, but this sounds like my mom! It's sweet and all, but intense and adds extra stress though that's obviously not the intent. I like what @Abonsut said about keeping her busy. Get her to wash some baby clothes or something.
Goodluck :) Let us know how you're doing.
  • Haha same here! My mam is very stressed about the fact I want to labour at home for as long as possible, I know we will end up fighting during the big event but it will all be forgotten once baby is here, we just have totally different ways of dealing with stress, she gets anxious and chatty and I go quiet, I still couldn't imagine not havin her next to me through all this!
  • My mom is the exact same way !!! I'm 36 weeks 6 days. My mom is constantly checking on me and asking how the baby is doing ... Which is fine. But I've decided to not tell my mom that I'm in labor because she will stress me out and cause my labor to be stressful. I love my mother but that woman cannot keep her composure.
  • I hear ya! I was in the hospital for monitoring at 32 weeks with some contractions and have been told to take it easy since then. My mom is driving me insane fussing and calling me like twice a day. When I answer and say hello she says "what's wrong? You're voice sound funny" every friggin time! I'm the baby of the family so everyone is all anxious and worried. My husband is just as chill as me and is the only one who knows what I need these days.
  • Be calm and take a deep breath. Believe it or not, there is always some percentage of complication that could possibly take place. I don't want to be the pessimistic person here but there can be life threatening complications that may or may not occur, therefore your mom is just preparing for what can happen. It's like, preparing for the worst so you can feel even better when nothing actually goes wrong. Just tell her you're tired and need some space to sleep, even if you're not going to sleep.
  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one! Thankfully it's a work day and I've sent her to work and told her I will call when I get to the hospital and they've checked me out and monitored my contractions etc, sadly she works across the road from the hospital so she'll probably beat me to it hahaha I've been pretending to be asleep for the last 6 hours or so and she's come in and checked on me Atleast 20 times bless her but I'm so glad she's gone to work haha!
  • Im planning on letting my mom know im in labor when I can feel my baby's hair. Haha
