AW - I think there's something wrong with my baby

in 3rd Trimester
I'm at the hospital for a 36 week growth scan and he's measuring really small, like 3 weeks behind and only 4lbs and he wasn't moving properly.

They've told me to wait in the waiting room and I don't know what's going on.

He was measuring on track at 23 weeks and now he's really small.

    I saw another Dr and they confirmed that baby is small, 7th percentile and approx 4lbs 15oz at 35+5.

    They don't know if it's just that I make small babies or if there's something wrong with the placenta. So I have to see a consultant tomorrow and go for another scan on Friday. Then have a scan every Friday.

    They said if they are happy with the growth at the scan then I just go back the following week but if they aren't then I'll be induced.

    They also said it could be caused by an infection of a choromosimal thing but as the other scans looked good and he looks perfect other than being small, they don't think it's that.

    So I just have to get to 39 weeks. I'm just so shocked. I've had perfect scans before and fundal height always measures correct. I was expecting them to say he's s bigger baby, this just totally winded me.

    I don't blame you, I would be worried too. FX for a good scan on Friday and that you can make it to 39 weeks!

    Sounds like what i was just diagnosed with. I was ranking 6th percent when he should be at 10 now. I'm 35 weeks and 3 days. I am worried too... but all my doctors an nurses say that babies that may be smaller now will catch up once born. They said they would industry experience me at 38 weeks. If it's better for the baby to grow outside the womb that's why they would induce. Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR)

    Oh wow.. i'm so sorry to hear that something this scary is happening. I hope you just make small babies and there is nothing significant to worry about..

    My cousins baby had IUGR and at birth weighed around 5lbs full term. He's now over 25lbs and just turned one. He's hitting all his regular milestones. Wishing you the best.

    I have another growth scan this coming Friday, it he's grown enough he gets to stay in, if not then I'll be induced that day.

    @amberdawn281 how are you doing? Have you had any more updates?
