I did too. I actually found the c-section experience to be unexpectedly stress-free and easy. The spinal felt like a small bee sting for about 5 seconds (totally manageable), the operating room was calm, and my husband was by my side the whole time. I was up and walking around the room about 3 hours after DS was born since that's when I finally had control of my legs.
I've experienced worse pain after an intense abdominal workout, so needless to say, I didn't find the recovery to be difficult at all. I kept up with my meds, did plenty of walking (they say it helps a lot), and made sure to keep an industrial sized maxi-pad wedged between my incision and the band of my undies. It really helped to keep anything from rubbing on the incision, which is the worst of it (or at least it was for me).
I was so pleased with how well the c section went that I initially asked for a repeat c section upon finding out I was pregnant again. I have since decided to attempt a VBAC for a number of reasons, to include hopes of a quicker recovery so I can keep up with my 2 year old and avoiding unnecessary surgery if my body is willing to cooperate with a vaginal birth.
I can't guarantee that you will have the same experience I did, but I do encourage you not to be disappointed if you have to have a c section. The end result is the same...a healthy baby, which is what matters.
