Since Hazel Mae has been napping so well, I've begun to plan some homemade gifts for her: a series of barnyard animal paintings and a pair of fur-trimmed, wool felt boots. I completed her first painting in two hours (before she woke up from her nap)!

I also began a journal for her while I was pregnant. I write letters to her in it, about the pregnancy and how she is as a baby.

What gifts are you making for your babies?

I love the painting! But I got tired just thinking about doing any of this. I bought Goober a wooden xylophone. The first of many musical instrument gifts that I will send him to Grandma's to play with.

He gets fed everyday.... As does his sister. And their clothes are clean. And I wipe their butts. That's all I got.

I started writing in an awesome leather journal for her when I found out I was pregnant. I stopped around 20 weeks. I might try to start back & just add a "sorry sista, you were sleeping and you were on my boob all the time so I forgot to keep writing..." Haha

I am certainly not as creative as you but on her first birthday I am going to get her a Pandora bracelet and me, DH, and DS will pick out beads and then get her one bead each year with a note explaining why we chose each bead. Then I can give it to her when she is old enough to appreciate it.

I'm making her a baby owl costume for Halloween.. So far not as cute as the tutorial I'm following online but here is one wing!

I started a journal too, I've written in it exactly 3 times since she was born haha

I forgot that my best friend (no kids yet) got LO a bracelet with a pearl. Each year she adds a pearl (& switches from bracelet to toddler necklace to adult necklace) but by the time she's 18, it'll be a full strand.

I wish I was that creative! I have a white chest that is storing her toys right now...I was thinking when she gets older of putting her hand prints on it and painting her name on it and letting her paint on it as well. So that way she can really make it her own.

Best I got is I started a 'journal', intended to be read by LO when he is older. Hopefully give him a perspective of me that is more like me as a person my age would know me, not like the perspective of just a mom. If that makes sense. Just that I once saw a letter written to my dad from my mom before I was born and it was different to see my mom as a young woman. The journal is still mostly about him, but I try to capture a good memory of the day every day (even if that's all I write for that day), and my ponderings about him (what hand will he use? Will he be a lefty like his dad? What hair color will he have? Etc)
