Bc options

I want a long term option. I know I do not want any more children so I was checking of tying my tubes but I have not heard good reactions to it. I have bad reactions to hormonal bc options except for the Nuva ring for some reason. What are you guys going with?

Re: Bc options

  • I haven't made a decision yet, but several doctors have suggested an iud. You might look at that.

  • I am doing the mirena iud but we want at least one more baby but not for a couple years. I also have had bad reactions to other hormonal bc but the iud is supposed to keep most of the hormones contained within the uterus so I'm hoping that I don't have the same issues!
  • Husband is getting snipped. With our insurance it's going to be $35. Quick recovery, no hormones problems for me and really cheap. Best option for us.
  • I had my tubes tied during my c-section. I knew I was done and I didn't want anything hormonal, plus I've heard bad things about Essure. I haven't heard of any complications with having a tubal, so are you maybe getting that mixed up with Essure where they put coils in your Fallopian tubes?

I would see if your SO would get snipped. It's a faster recovery and more minor procedure for him since they don't have to go into his abdomen. I think that men need to start stepping up to the plate more rather than leaving birth control on their partner's shoulders. Our bodies go through enough with pregnancy and nursing and most of the time we are the primary caregivers.

    DH would have had a vasectomy if I hadn't had a c-section.
  • DH is having a vasectomy this month. I am taking the mini pill until then.
  • I'm having the Nexplanon put in on Tuesday. I was on it before LO and am happy to go back to it. We are waiting about two-three years to have a second child. That works perfectly within the parameters of that form of BC.
  • I love depo provera. I got my shot yesterday and will get one more shot, then try for baby #2. 4 shots a year..not too shabby
  • I had the non hormonal IUD (I forget what it's called) before LO and loved it. I also had bad reactions to hormonal bc previously. It did take a few cycles for my period to even out though--it made my flow a lot heavier and cramping the first few months. But it lasts 5 years!
  • We've done natural family planning for about 11 12 years with no unwanted pregnancies and two boys six years apart. We will go back to that when we're both ready (I'm not yet).
  • We did natural family planning for the 2 years between kids. Got pregnant our first month not preventing. We are done now, and plan on DH getting a vasectomy. I EBF and bedshare, so I'm counting on lactational amenorrhea until then. Though if my recovery is like last time DH might be snipped before it's an issue :)

  • We already have husbands vasectomy scheduled.
  • I can't have hormonal birth control either and had a bad experience with the copper iud so I have to stick with condoms and prayers no surprises. Not too worried since we've been together 7 years and this is our first child with no pregnancy scares prior
  • Thanks for sharing, I've never been on birth control of any kind, this is our last baby but only our 2nd in 10 years of trying. So I'm not too worried, as I don't seem to be incredibly fertile in the first place, lol. Even though the chances of another are slim, I'm going to talk to my doc about my options to ensure there's no accidental third child ;) it's nice to read what you all are doing! Trying to convince hubby a vasectomy is the way to go.

  • @PregNancyClark what does natural family planning mean?
  • I love depo provera. I got my shot yesterday and will get one more shot, then try for baby #2. 4 shots a year..not too shabby

Exactly what I'm doing! I love the depo shot its so easy and I don't have to remember to do anything
