Lower Back Pain?

Hi I am 6 weeks and 1 day. This is my 2nd child, and I've had mild cramps and random aches in my abdomen for about 6 days. I have also had some lower back pain off and on. Is this normal? I've read mixed things on the internet from this being normal to signs of a miscarriage. No bleeding or spotting yet. I never had these early cramps and aches with my 1st until I was much further along. Thank you.

Re: Lower Back Pain?

  • I'm 5w4d with my first. I get lower back pain and cramps all the time. I was freaking out so I called my dr. They said as long as there is no bleeding the baby is fine. My husband just says that's it's a symptom that I have. I use a heating pad or walking around to get rid of the pain. Hope this helps!

  • I believe this is normal because all of the hormones and whatever else our body is doing is making a baby. I think I remember I used to have twinges near my ovaries, like a pulling sensation too. The OB told me that's normal too, it's your uterus growing.HTH!

  • I had back pain so bad on Monday that I felt I needed to go to the bathroom and make sure I wasn't bleeding. I was. I went into the dining room where DH was studying and told him "we are losing our baby". Well, bleeding stopped, after a bath the pain stopped, called OB the next day and she said "totally normal. Take a tylenol and put your feet up. If the bleeding continues and gets heavier and the pain worsens, give me a call back". My pain hasnt returned and I've had no more bleeding since. However, morning sickness suddenly snuck up on me thursday so I'm feeling very confident. Don't worry mama, back pain, especially in a second oregnancy, is very normal.
