Urethra Pain? TMI maybe

I did a search, but I didn't see anything about this. If it exists somewhere could you tell me which Discussion to look for?

Is anyone else experiencing pain around the urethra area? Mild during urination, the real pain is when I'm walking, and even then it's not every time. I haven't got an appointment anytime soon soon, and if it persists through the night I will likely call my doctor tomorrow and see if she (or someone at the practice) can see me. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and what they found out. Thanks all :D

  • No personal experience but yeah just call your doctor. That doesn't sound right.

  • Sounds like maybe a bladder infection, UTI, who knows.  Lots of things can cause urethra pain.  Call your doc.  Unfortunately, even if someone has had similar pains it doesn't mean that's the source of yours.  Good luck!

  • Thanks for the responses, I know it's an indicator for a couple things. I guess I was just wondering what some of those things could be so I could look further into those symptoms as the only clear present one is the pain. I've had UTIs, but never kidney stones. I'll keep thumbing around Google and see if I've got other symptoms that pop out to me.

  • I have chronic kidney stones and so I have constant pain in that area. Mine are small, but the pain is really bad with babies sitting on it (having twins).

It is more common for women to get kidney stones between 19-34 and even more common during pregnancy. Not always the case, but my OB and kidney doctors always ask me about it when I have a UTI. However, if its just pain down there, it might just be a UTI of some sort. I would call and get it checked out bc UTIs can cause other issues during pregnancy (like yeast infections). Also ask about taking AZO. I take it several times a day bc of my chronic issues, but my OB says he will recommend it to his other UTI pregnant ladies. Also drink some Gatorade to help with electrolytes....never helps me not pregnant, but for some reason my body likes it when I have a UTI when pregnant.

Feel better! I know it sucks!
  • I've been having issues with bladder spasms since about 20 weeks, I'm 27 now. Mine is from ligaments stretching. I did have mild burning and leaking urine once, that was a very mild UTI. It wasn't even positive until it was sent out for a culture. The weight of the baby(mine is low) and uterus can cause pressure on those ligaments by the urethra/vaginal area and create frequency and spasms but my experience with burning has been that it was a UTI.
  • Thanks for the insights ladies. I went in and did a urine sample. It came back negative for UTI and there hasn't been any blood so they said it was most likely a ligament thing. If it continues through the weekend they asked me to pop into labour and delivery to check and see if it is something else, but my doc believes it's a combination of me and baby growing. Again thanks ladies :D
