C Section recovery experience?

FTM here. I ended up having to get an emergency c section, and the recovery has been pretty rough for me.

So far when I've spoken to my doctor she has told me I am doing well, but there one thing that is kind of freaking me out. Sometimes when I try to lay on my side or walk too fast, it feel like my insides are unsupported? I have asked her about this and she said it fairly normal. Has anyone experienced this? How did it take to start feeling normal?

What are everyone else's recoveries like?

Re: C Section recovery experience?

  • Totally normal. Did they give you a binder? Wearing one helps with that "my insides are falling out of my body" feeling.

  • I'm on week 5 of recovery and some days are still worse than others. My incision is all healed up now but areas around it are still a little numb and sometimes getting up to fast makes me walk hunched over for a little. Definitely get a binder. The one the hospital gave me works great. It looks like one I was going to get for $20 on Amazon so it's pretty cheap but just gives you extra support.
  • I feel this too. It started to freak me out. I'm a week today from my C section and recovery has been tough and slow.
  • I had one too, be patient and ask the people around you for support. I felt like I could sort of walk after 1 week, pick up baby and change him after 2 weeks (my baby was 11 lbs, hence the c-sect), and after 3 weeks I felt completely healed. I really depended on my husband and family to help with baby, you have just had a major surgery and need to take it easy.
  • Binder. So worthwhile! I am 4 weeks past my second csection and can't say enough about the positive difference the abdominal binder made.
  • I'm 6week post partum, and I have been wearing an abdominal binder, which helps tremendously. My incision is not completely healed and I still have a lil bit of swelling below the incision line. But then again, I think it depends on the person and how quickly they recover from major surgery. For me personally, I know it will take awhile before I'm completely 100%, as my body tends to take a long time to recover. I was just cleared to slowly work out again. But just walking a mile this morning, I was hurting afterward. Be patient with yourself. :)
  • I felt this way too. I'm 5 weeks and still not completely comfortable on my side yet
  • I have been feeling great since the end of week two (im three weeks tomorrow) but now Im getting heavy bleeding after just walking. Ots so frustratimg because im so ready to get back in shape but now I cant even walk to much! I went feom a panty liner back to a full on pad
  • I have been good since week 2 but I have no feeling in my stomach or the tops of my thighs. So when I lay on my sides I don't feel anything.

My incision is infected which has been most of my issue and my left side won't close. That's been hard.
