Sorry for the long post. my lo is a little over a month now, she's been exclusively bottle fed until i got a nipple shield(short nipples) and even then she's had maybe 30 minutes total in the week or so I've had it. Well i went to my follow up at my obgyn and she was going to put me back on the combination pill and i told her i was still sort of giving her breast milk (maybe half an ounce by pumping, which the pump isn't pumping as well but idk whats wrong with it or if i need a smaller shield for that) and she told me that the combo pills would dry me up and if i went on the mini pill that my dh and i would have to use condoms or spermicide(which before baby our only form of bc was the pill, neither of us like condoms and he has a reaction to the spermicide). When i do breast feed her it's not for long, 10 minutes at the most, she'll get frustrated and start crying when it starts to run out and she'll also knock it off. I had planned to get a small sized contact nipple shield this weekend and try that. My question is should i even bother now since she's older now or is there still some hope?
Re: is it too late to breastfeed?
It sounds like whatever feeding plan you've been doing for the last month has worked fine, so I would do what's best for you.
