6 weeks and unsure what to eat...

I am currently 6 weeks pregnant and so excited! I experienced a miscarriage at 11 weeks, 2 months ago. And am now questioning everything I eat, and whether I'm eating enough/ enough nutritious food. I am not used to eating very much during the day, so it is hard to get my body used to eating so often. Does anyone have a menu or something they follow? Anything will help!

I'm sorry for your prior loss.

I'm confused on why you are not used to eating much during the day...does your schedule not allow for it? Eat what you would usually eat (so long as you are eating enough...how many calories were you getting before getting pregnant?) but some suggest avoiding unheated deli meat and certain fish.

My meals looks something like this if it helps.

Breakfast: Some variation of fruit, dairy and protein so... some variation of banana/apple/grapes, cheese, eggs, gluten free toast (only because I have Celiac, otherwise regular toast would be fine) and peanut butter or something like that

Snack: Apple and peanut butter or cheese and crackers

Lunch: Usually a soup and salad with lots of veggies and a protein source (chicken or egg)

Dinner: Whatever I've meal planned for the week...last night it was roasted veggies with olive oil, beans, quinoa, avacado

Desert: Chocolate...don't forget this part, its crucial.  ;)

  • @mkemommy  Shut up!! I have Celiac too! lol
  • The nurse at my OBs told me to eat what I can for first trimester but not to increase calories, and clean it up second trimester.

Don't stress yourself out too much, especially if you have MS. Eat what you can.

I would "love" your post but, as I'm sure you know, there is nothing to love about Celiac...lol.  It is no fun, especially when I'm craving carbs.  Lets face it...gluten free bread and pasta are NOT the same.  ;)

Yes!!! I try and follow the paleo/primal way of eating but all I want is carbs right now. :(
  • @mkemommy and @adiaz132003  When were you guys diagnosed? I was a baby so I don't really know what I'm missing except that doughnuts smell really effing good. Also, Subway.

I eat paleo-ish bc I have reactive hypoglycemia and can't eat sugar and refined carbs or my blood sugar drops. But I totally had a sandwich on regular bread for lunch and there was pasta in my soup. Right now, I'm eating what sounds good and dealing with potential crappy feelings later. But I also know that the repercussions of eating wheat with celiac is way more unbearable than what I deal with.

This! Today I ate 6 fish sticks and a bagel because that's all I could stomach. Oh and I managed to get down a glass or water, a bottle of mineral water (bc of the b6) and a kids size coke from Zaxbys. Coke usually helps my MS. Right now my goal is food in my stomach. Any food.

Oh no I'm not diagnosed. I do notice that I get really bloated if I eat bread or pasta, even rice, but it's mild. Actually I got into paleo cause DH wanted to lose some weight cause he was eating too much junk, so to be supportive I did it too. I ended losing weight too which for a 120 lb woman to drop to 110 in a few weeks, not good. I switched to primal and allow for some junk food days but always end up feeling like crap. I like that way of eating cause it was pretty easy for me. I love veggies and fruit.

Edit: I'll add that my weight came back up to 115 and I filled out so I look way more healthy now. :)

I was diagnosed a few months after I turned 30...happy 30th to me, right? My blood work was off the charts and the endoscopy confirmed it unfortunately. I've been gluten free almost 4 years now.
  • I've been drinking a lot of milk and getting a ton of protein in with chicken and eggs.. Obviously I still am indulging but on a day to day basis I've been trying to up my calcium and protein intake as well as taking prenatal vitamins.
  • I'm trying to do protein for breakfast but I'm having problems stomaching eggs. Any advice?

Could you tolerate a fruit smoothie with added protein?

@candicek15,  @mkemommy and @adiaz132003 I'll sit on the Celiac bench with you. Bloodwork came back positive Xmas Eve 2008 and biopsy positive NYE 2008. I miss all the things. Donuts, cheez-its, and poptarts are the top of my list along with a PBJ that sticks to the roof of my mouth LOL
