My mother bought a bunch of clothes for my daughter. She didn't tell me the size but they say 6 months. DD is only 2 month but the size of a 4 month old. My question is, if it says 6 months is it 3-6 or 6-9? They look a little big but I can't tell.
In my experience, they are somewhere in the middle. LO grew out of her 0-3 month clothes before growing out of clothes that were just 3 month. She can now wear 3-6 month, 6 month, and 6-9 month (the 6-9 month clothes are big, but not so ridiculously big that she can't possibly wear them). It looks like she'll be out of the 3-6 month stuff well before the 6 month stuff.
That is so true about the different sizes. The outfit she has on right now is 3-9 but is still smaller than the ones that say 6 months that I'm wondering about.
I have found if it says 6 month it is usually 3-6. With DS1 I made the mistake of waiting until he was 6 months to use them and by then they were too small. I also think it's just a general guideline since all babies are different sizes.
Every brand is different. Sizes all overlap, you'll probably just have to look the clothes over to see if they'll fit right now. This size chart is pretty helpful to compare how different brands tend to size their clothes.
I sort all of DS clothes by how they actually look instead of by size on the tag. Right now he wears nb in some brands and 3mos in others. With a few 0-3 mixed in. Usually you will find one brand fits better at certain times, depending on length and weight. I mostly just try to take things out once they are to small, and try to remember what is going to fit soon, so I can keep trying it on him.
My LO is 11 weeks and also the size of a 4 to 5 month old lol. She has a long torso like her dad so she can wear 6 months onsies from carters and 3-6 months at old navy. Depending on where and what the 6 months is a bit big but not so much that it Swallows her. I'd say just try them on and see for yourself.
