Gifts for nursing staff?

Just wondering if any of you ladies will be bringing a gift for the labor/post partum nurses when it's time for delivery? I'm a RN myself and know how much gifts are appreciated on the unit! I'm just not sure if I should get the typical box of chocolates or do something a bit more unique?

I made little bags for the nurses with hand sanitizer, gum a nice pen and note pad and a couple other little things plus a thank you card. They are going to be a big part of a very life changing moment, so I think a small token of appreciation is the least I could do!

I made this basket for them to pillage while I'm admitted. Most stuff I was able to find at target or the dollar tree.
Basically, candy, healthy snacks, chap stick, hand sanitizer, water flavoring packets, and chocolate. And... My puppy wanted to sample.

I bought a 150 piece bag of chocolate candy from Costco and a plastic Cauldron from Michael's for a Halloween themed treat. Ill just have it put in the nurses station so all can enjoy

With my first, I had an Edible Arrangement fruit bouquet delivered to the nurses station. It was a big hit!

We are planning on ordering pizza for a shift or two and my mom is bringing special chocolates from home as well!!

I bought a huge pumpkin shaped canister filled with individual bags of pretzels they can grab. Wrapped paper around it that says thank you for all you do and tied some curly ribbon on top. It's not a big deal but I think it's useful for that type of work!

I didn't do anything with my first (didn't think about it) but I remember leaving so beyond grateful for my labor nurse and just thinking it doesn't matter how much she gets paid, there is no amount of money worth what she saw and did for me that day lol

As a nurse I can tell you food is generally the way to our hearts

I plan on having my hubby bring in some pink cupcakes when our little girl is born.

I would avoid anything homemade. It always makes me leary when patients do that. You just don't know how clean of a person they are at home.

Small food/candy gifts to share at the nurse's station are usually best. It's uncomfortable to have someone hand something to you that's just for you or have you choose something from a basket in your room, but having something for everyone for the nurse's station or break room is generally best received. I love some of the ideas that people had like having pizza or cupcakes delivered... Hadn't thought of that and might have to copy!

I agree no homemade when I worked at a bank, anything homemade went right in the trash, unfortunately:( It's sad but it was the policy for a reason I am sure.

We made a basket full of starbucks iced coffees they could store in the frig and Ghirardelli chocolates. Who can say no to chocolate and coffee. It was a big hit among all the nurses.

I asked what the nurses would most enjoy when I went for an NST and my nurses (3 of them) said the opposite! They all asked for some homemade food! So we have a tray of cookies for them as well as a gift card for my L&D nurse

We did donuts and coffee for labor and delivery and them again on our second day in mom and baby. It was a huge hit.

I agree. I work for a hospital and it is policy that we can't accept personal gifts over $5. From a vendor, a patient, etc. Any gift accepted has to be given to a group or able to be shared with a group, or needs to be "forfeited."

I just got home from the hospital and gifts for staff was very appreciated. I can't say I thought of it myself but my birthing coach brought in baking and a few other little things for the staff cards and a plant I think (seriously i can't even Remember what the past few days have been a roller coaster!) but it was well received by all!

I'll be having someone in my family make a Dunkin Donuts run for a couple boxes of coffee.
