I just thought I would put this out there for any California moms out there who are trying to navigate the ins and outs of maternity leave within their company. I just want you to know (because I did not know this!) that if you are employed full time in the state of California you likely qualify for 6 weeks paid family leave. The STATE of California, not your employer, pays 55% of your income for 6 weeks, regardless of whether your employer provides maternity or short term disability benefits. So you could potentially collect benefits from the state and your employer. Or, if you are upset because you don't get paid leave from your employer, you're in luck because you likely get it from the state. I hope this helps someone, it seriously helped me.
