  • If you are concerned, you should really talk to your OB or an endo because they can give you better insight.  This is my experience, so it may not be the same for you.

I have had Type 1 diabetes for 18 years and unfortunately that comes with lots of ups and downs.  I was sent to the ER at one point unconscious due to severe hypoglycemia and have had days during the pregnancy when the readings dropped low.  It is my understanding that the lows do not really impact the baby as much as the highs.  I am due in 2 weeks and from everything we can tell, my baby is doing great in there.

  • @jessicaham201 is right, the lows won't effect baby as much as the highs, unless of course you let your sugar get so low that you faint. If you are in the 60's, you need to eat some sugar right away. Drink some juice or soda, that's the quickest, and then monitor for the next hour, and take a bit more insulin as needed if you get too high. Hang in there. I'm on my last day and finally getting the hang of it! From my experience, you NEED to eat a carb/sugar snack 2 hours after breakfast, in order to keep your levels normal. If you do any physical activity right after eating, your sugar will drop with insulin. Sometimes mine even continues to drop up to 4 hours, depending on what I have eaten. Just be very aware of the feelings you get with lows. Good luck!
