Flanges

Can someone explain how the size matters. I have 24 and 27 and I'm wondering what's right? Is it a comfort thing? I hear people commenting about is the flange the right size (as if it affects milk profuction) and I just am not sure. Thanks!!

Re: Flanges

  • I knew the 24 was too big bc it was pulling a lot of my areola in and was painful. The smaller size 21 was more comfortable for me. It's a comfort thing mostly, though they say it's better for it to be a bit big than too small.
  • I went from 24 to 27 and finally settled on 30 -- it made a huge difference. It's worth experimenting! Also, you may find it helpful to put a bit of coconut or olive oil around the edge so your skin doesn't chafe.

  • It's based on your nipple/areola size. Once you start pumping your nipples should not touch the sides otherwise it may hurt and make pumping more difficult. It can also rub you raw and cause scabbing if they are the wrong size.
