sleeping schedule

How do I start a sleep schedule for my 9 week old daughter. I wI'll be returning to work at the end of the month and I would like to start a sleeping schedule. I have been staying up late so I can see my boyfriend when he comes home from work. She isn't normally awake but she does wake up around 9 ish and stay up for maybe a hour or so. But the last couple nights she has been staying up later. I have tried to get her to go to sleep but she just cries.
I let her sleep when ever she wants. She normally wakes up about 7ish I feed her and try to go to back to sleep she will wake me back up in a hour or two and then she is up for maybe a hour or so. Or she will be awake till noon. Then sleep until later that night only waking every so often. At times when she is awake she is so cranky it's rediculous. I will give in and pick her up. I will put her in the nursing position and she will get the sleepy eyes and pass out
So I don't know how to keep her awake and happy. I just let her sleep so it's easier on me. But I'm just hurting my self in the long run for when I go back to work.
What should I do?

Re: sleeping schedule

  • You can try to get on a sleeping schedule, but my first one never took to any kinds of schedule until 3 - 4 months. You can help them learn signals for night time by starting a light bed time routine. We currently give her a bath at the same time as our older one then read books together and start making the house more quiet and dim the lights. She's getting the hang of sleeping 5 - 7 hours at a time once she drops for the night... that is translating to her being more awake during the day.
