Re: Growth spurts

  • Mine will be 3 weeks tomorrow and we just got through a 3 day of constant cluster feeding I'm guessing was a growth spurt. It's intense, haha!! :) I've read it will happen again around 6 weeks

  • I've heard between weeks 2 and 3, and can last for a few days. The cluster feeding is no joke, but knowing what's going on makes it a little less mentally exhausting... but still exhausting none the less. My little guy had a spurt last week at 2 weeks 5 days, but it only lasted 1 day. Started out with a night of terrible sleep. Then he ate every 30 minutes for about 7 hours during the day and hewas just generally fussy/clingy. Today at almost 4 weeks, we seem to be just coming out of another one. Yesterday was again filled with constant feeding, and a fussy guy. Not sure how common it is for them to be so close together, but if it means only 1 day of the cluster feeding, I'll take it!
  • I read at 2, 3 and 6 weeks they are super common... And they are terrible!!!!
  • My LO had one at 10 days for about 3 days, then at 3 weeks for about 5 days. I hear the next one is at 6 weeks. He is 5 weeks today so I am hoping to still have a little time before the next one comes. He was eating every 45 min to an hour during the other two growth spurts.
  • Right now my LO is feeding almost every hour.. He is 3 weeks tomorrow. He only takes 5-10 min naps. Last night he slept fine. But I'm not sure how he's going to do tonight since he's been feeding every 1 hour! Omg I'm not prepared. I'm so tired. :(
  • My LO has been in a constant growth spurt since 3 weeks. He will be 6 weeks on Friday. He eats like crazy (most in one sitting was 17 oz, then he was hungry again 2 hours later). He was 8 lbs 10 oz and 19 inches at birth, lost weight down to 7 lbs 9 oz and now he's probably close to 12 lbs but really long. 3-6 month clothing fits just right. Give it another week or two and he will outgrow them too. Yikes!

  • My LO just turned 3 weeks yesterday. I'm pretty sure he's going through a growth spurt now. He'll be fussy and not want to nap for most of the day, along with constant feedings. When he finally sleeps though, it's about a heavenly 4 hour stretch so I can take a nap too :)
As PP's have said, I believe the next spurt is at 6 weeks.
  • Yikes thx girls! Mine wants to eat frequently right now.

  • We're almost three weeks over here and while I haven't noticed a huge change in feeding, little man went from 8 lbs 7 oz on Friday (birth weight) to 9 lbs 5 oz today, five days later, so we must have been in growth spurt territory!

  • I remember everyone taking about the hell that was the 6 week growth spurt on my BMB with my first, but I didn't notice much difference during that time with DS1. He was always a frequent nurser though. I'll be interested to see how this LO does with it.
