Anyone else's baby still cry in their sleep?

This is driving me insane. He actually cries, loudly, but is sound asleep. It keeps everyone in the house awake and is rather disconcerting.

I was hoping it would ease as he got older, but 8 weeks in and nope.

Re: Anyone else's baby still cry in their sleep?

  • I get an occasional cry or whimper at night which sometimes sends me crib side only to still find her sleeping. No full on continuous cry though. Have you tried different swaddles? Or I think they are called sleep sacks. .. maybe ask his pedi at next appt?

  • Our LO cries and squirms several times overnight while sleeping. Dr said it sounded like gas, and as long as she stays asleep to let it be
  • Mine just started this during naps in the middle of the day (LO is 8 weeks). Eyes don't open, but her cries seem almost like scared cries. It's similar to her pain cry, but not quite the intensity. I was wondering if it wasn't possibly a bad dream? Or that she can't smell/sense me close enough? I dunno. Curious to hear others' input on this.

This. She doesn't full out cry though. And I know it's just gas because a couple of times I was standing next to her and as soon as she passed gas she stopped.
  • I've tried lots of swaddles. I think he's fine in the one he's in now, the Love to Dream.

It might be gas, he's had lots of constipation issues, but I swear it sounds like the cries he makes when he wakes up!

  • My 2 year old went through this over the summer. I'd wake up to him crying, like REALLY crying. I'd go running in to give him his oxidizer and he'd be sound asleep with his eyes closed.
  • Mine laughs in his sleep on occasion. It's kind of creepy. He doesn't laugh when he's awake though. I think it's just a matter of everything getting connected in their brains.

  • My 3 year old laughs and cries in her sleep, so I don't think it's just a baby thing
