Adding pumped milk to refrigerated milk

im having to go back to work so have really been trying to figure out this pumping situation. I have a few weeks so I'm slowly getting into it. I pumped some milk about 2 ounces yesterday and put it in the fridge. I pumped 2 ounces today and refrigerated that as well. Can I combine the two bottles into one even though they were pumped in different days?

Re: Adding pumped milk to refrigerated milk

  • Yes. I would leave them separate until you are ready to use them but once you are ready to feed to baby it is perfectly fine to combine them.

With my first I had a super helpful breastmilk dos and don'ts overview that I got from the hospital that I kept on my refrigerator. Didn't get one this time but I've been looking online for it because I always forget the appropriate timeframes for storage.

  • If u don't have enough containers u can add cold to cold. Just don't add fresh to cold become it warms the already cold. I've read different storage times but in school it was the rule of 5s. 5 hours room temp, 5 days in fridge, and 5 months in freezer
