My LO has been trouble burping after feedings he is 2 weeks and 4 days in the beginning he had no problem now he does not burp and seems to want to vomit after feedings and recommendations to help burp?
I find moving him around helps. I'll lay him on his back and do some bicycle kicks then left him up and keep doing that. He eventually burps for me this way.
My little guy will only burp by me bouncing him up and down. However, even this is only about half the time. My pedi said that breast fed babies don't always burp because they generally swallow less air than babies taking a bottle.
I EBF and my 5 week old poor baby has terrible reflux, so I've spent a lot of time perfecting the art of the burp. This is my strategy:
- I start with over the shoulder to put pressure on his abdomen and start patting his bottom for a minute to try to get the bubbles to the top. Then i use very fast medium-strength paths starting at his bottom and go us the length of his back. I do this a few times and then follow it with a rubbing motion. This burps him 50% of the time. - if that doesn't work I put him on my chest and spend a few minutes jiggling him slightly (again to get the bubbles to the top) and patting his back lightly. Then I try over the shoulder again. This solves it 90% of the time. - if he still hasn't burped, I do the over the arm with his head in my hand and do a few strong pats. This is what the nurses showed me in the hospital, but I'm still not super comfortable with it, so I use it sparingly. If you are comfortable with it though, it is super effective. - If after that he still hasn't burped, I keep him upright for 10 minutes and try again. And again. Until he burps.
I find I have to stop LO and burp her partway into the feeding. My let down is very strong, so I hear her gulping air and the rumbling in her tummy. If I don't she won't eat enough (because she feels full), and has trouble burping if she gets drowsy.
For the most part my daughter will burp after every ounce. Occasionally I don't get a burp but peds said it was ok so I don't have to get nuts about it. Feel I get a better burp with her sitting on my lap and leaving forward onto my other hand supported under her chin/chest.
Re: Burping
This is me too!!! I try burping and keeping him upright for 20min but the moment I lay him down he pukes up all the milk..... Bahhh

Hopefully this is helpful!
