B6 and MS

I had the worst all day sickness starting two days before I got my BFP. It felt like I was constantly getting over the stomach flu! I called the OB I'm seeing and started taking B6. One day in and I finally have some relief! I'm nervous to take any medication, but this is suppose to be really safe. Knock on wood...this has really helped me function and sleep over the last 24 hours! I was a skeptical. I hope this continues :)

Preggie pops, ginger tea, crackers, gingerale....nothing worked for me!

  • Oh I need to try this!
  • Omg I feel wonderful! I'm like feeling to good that I'm afraid, but I know it is coincidence with the B6. I took 25 mg 8a,2p,7p yesterday.. Usually at 7p I feel awful and I slept all night. Woke up today feeling good and slightly queasy, but fine. At 7p I was started to get a little nauseated took the dose and was fine the rest of the night. So today going to try a dose at 1p and a dose at 7p...and skip the AM dose. See how I do. I researched some journal articles and everything says it's perfectly safe. MD said 50mg but a little more was fine. I work as a ICU nurse and can't take unisom while working, I can't be tired and groggy, so just tried the B6. So far so good!

Figured maybe it would help some people :)
  • I'm in the same position- can't be groggy at work. I need to pick up some B6 today. I've been miserable. I seem to have every symptom in the book! This is not like my other pregnancies!
  • Yes I don't know what is it, I feel great like ever since I took it. I'm freaking myself out now. I didn't take the dose this AM....may wait till my nausea kicks in this afternoon. I need to know it was the B6 LOL. Even did an hour of spin class this AM. No issues eating today, less appetite then normal, but much better than the last week. I hope it works for other people too! Let me know what you guys think!

I've read it doesn't work for everyone, but the majority it helps. I knew I'd be a sicky I get sick with meds, anesthesia, motion, birth control, etc.
  • B6 doesn't work for everyone or even every pregnancy. Sometimes you have to try many things before you find what works for you and for this pregnancy.

  • Yep couldn't agree more @magnumj but worth a shot. Hence, why I just wanted to let everyone know, especially first timers that this is something that works for me :) and worth a try for anyone else with MS.
  • B6 + Unisom is one of the top recommendations to the point that B6 is being added to Rx prenatal vitamins (as well as a stool softener, learned that the hard way lol).

  • Ya, B6 didn't work for me last pregnancy; Preggie Pops were the closest thing I had to relief. I say if you find something that works, stick with it!

  • @sthomas1222 I have had the opposite effect of the stool softener LOL maybe because I'm taking a probiotic and my prenatals.

  • Meant to say in my prenatals
  • Last pregnancy, I did half of a Unisom and a B6 before bed and it worked very well! There was only about a week in there I needed something stronger (Zofran). I already bought some for this pregnancy, since I'm sure ms will kick in soon!
