Bridesmaid Dress Help

Hi ladies,

Need your opinion. My bridesmaid dress for a wedding I have in 3 weeks just came (finally).

I switched dress sizes with one of my best friends cause hers was 4 sizes too big for her and would have been a fortune for her to alter. I also could use the extra room for my belly but will need the top taken in a lot.

My dilema is what to wear for a bra. I'm a 32/34 I, and the back of the dress is so low.
I don't think I can do the low back straps because of my belly. Thoughts?

Re: Bridesmaid Dress Help

  • What if you just do the ones that stick on in the front?  I know they are not a ton of support, but it might be ok for a short amount of time?

  • I would just have the top taken in to fit tight and then wear cups...
  • I would talk to the person altering it, they may be able to sew in bra cups.

  • Sticky boobs. They're awesome.
  • I would ask the seamstress if she can sew in cups.  I find sticky boobs annoying, and if you end up sweating, they seem to slip and look really weird.

  • Do you think its possible to sew in cups for such a big size? I'm going where I had my wedding dress done, and the girl nearly fainted then when I was just an F cup lol.

This. If it's not supportive enough...I've seen some duct tape tricks on Pinterest that look pretty convincing...

  • Same situation as you. I bought a long line low back bra. I have huge boobs and the only option. The bra fits comfortably above baby.
  • Looks like you need the dress hemmed also. Maybe the seamstress can bring it up in the waist so that the back of the dress covers your bra. I too have a large chest and although I've never used the sticky or sew in cups I don't know if they'd be supportive enough to be comfortable and you're going to have a long day.

Talk to the seamstress and see what she recommends based on your needs.

Good luck and have fun at the wedding!
  • Thanks lady for the tips! Really appreciate it :-
  • I recently had cups sewn in for a bm dress. It's much more comfortable than sticky boobs!

What about a bikini top? It's possible you could tie it up lower than a bra might sit? Otherwise I would agree with stick on bras
  • You can find clear-back bras, if you're willing to spend the money. It won't disappear completely, but it's better than one that completely clashes.
