In need of prayers, really nervous and scared.

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and have vasa previa, I dont know if anyone is aware of this condition, but I had a ton of bleeding this morning and was rushed through emergency. I've been in the hospital all day and they are keeping me over night at least to monitor the baby, she's doing alright right now I'm just so scared. They've been giving me magnesium sulfate and serious shots the last 12 hours just in case I have to deliver her early. Was just wondering if anyone else has went through anything like this and can provide some support, I am just so worried.

Hi there, I'm really sorry. You must be a major jumble of nerves. Don't forget you are in the best possible place - a hospital, and they are going to do everything in their power to help you and baby. I don't know if you've checked, but there is a high risk board if you go to the main menu, it's under pregnancy. You will likely find someone there with a similar experience or condition, the ladies on there are awesome and supportive. All the best.

Never been through this but can't imagine how scary. I can speak from a profession stand point and say, you have reached viability and they are doing everything possible to make sure if baby has to be born that it has a great start. I will be hoping for many more safe weeks of pregnancy for you.

I haven't personally, but my close friend has. She delivered at 23 weeks. It's been a journey, but she has a very smart, active little girl that you'd never know entered the world early.

The ultimate hope is your little one would hang out and grow a little longer, but if it's not possible, I'm glad to here they are taking measures to ensure she'll be ready if need be. My thoughts and prayers are with you tonight!

Fingers crossed and all positive vibes that she stays put as long as possible to give her the easiest start at life. Like pp have said, you're at viability and in the best possible hands. They'll take good care of you and your little girl and do everything that they can to ensure she is as far along as possible when you deliver. I have a patient in the pharmacy where I work that had a grandson born at 25 weeks earlier this spring. He was not quite 2 pounds at birth and is now a chunky 13 pounds last time I talked to her. Not going to lie, he was in the NICU at children's mercy for several months but he's home now and thriving. You're at a point now where a happy, healthy baby is not only possible, but probable. It will be a long journey but I'm sure you're strong enough to make it through.

Really hoping that with some bed rest, your little one will stay put for a little longer, but if not, my brother was born at 25 weeks 17 years ago, and he is a healthy and annoying teenager, as pp said, it may not be easy or ideal, but medicine has come a long way in 17 years! Xx

Good thoughts coming to you and the baby. I was given the mag drip several times last pregnancy and it halted preterm labor temporarily. I don't know anything about your specific condition, but like PPs said, you are in the best place possible, doing everything you can for the baby. I know the mag drip sucks and makes you feel like total crap, but please try to believe in the best outcome possible. Every moment that baby stays inside is one more moment that baby gets stronger. While I have no experience with your condition I did deliver my son early, not this early though. My best advice is to try to rest and relax as much as you can. I know It's not easy under the circumstances but right now that is what your baby needs from you. The mag drip sucks! It made me so loopy but it worked so I'd do it over again in a heartbeat if I had to.

They are scheduling me an ultra sound and the doctor said we will see what that tells us and go from there. She said hopefully I'll be aloud to go home by the weekend. As of right now baby and I are doing fine, they just want me here in case anything happens. She said once I do get to home I'll need to come back in 4 weeks and I'll be admitted into the hospital from 28 weeks until I have her so that I am here if anything is to happen. It'll be a long journey from here but I just hope she makes it into the world heathy and safely. Thank you guys for all you're support! It makes me feel a lot better.

The ultra sound results showed that my cervix hasn't been opened and none of the bleeding was coming from my uterus or from the cord so the baby is fine, they're keep me until tomorrow to keep a close eye on me and then hopefully I'll get to enjoy being at home for about a month until I have to come back! Thanks again everyone for the kind words and prayers.
