You guys. My husband said the sweetest stuff to me in his sleep.
He got in an accident in the same month that I got pregnant. It's caused lots of complications, and he hasn't been able to go back to work until this week.
(He is definitely not faking. You couldn't fake this stuff.) On Thursday, he had a procedure where they burned out part of the nerve in his neck. This has gotten him from severe pain 95% of the time to being almost pain free all the time. We're still having some problems with aphasia and balance, but we're getting there. He hadn't driven since the accident, and mobility was tough.
I started feeling really ill last Monday, and even missed work for it. By Thursday afternoon, I was really sick, although I was claiming that there was something wrong with the restaurant's food where I had lunch. By 11 that night, I was sobbing over pain in my back and sides, but couldn't wake my husband up. (Due to the procedure, they medicated him extra that night.) I could still feel baby moving like crazy, so decided to wait and see how I was the next morning. When I got up, I didn't feel the baby move for 3 hours. (She is a wiggler. I rarely go 20 minutes without feeling her.) I told my husband what was happening, and put a call in to our doctor. I was on the couch--worried, but waiting for a callback for more instructions. Husband was like, "Nope. Get in the car. We're going to his office." He drove (into the sunlight--new ability!) to the doctor, and then following more directions to the hospital. He walked the entire length of the hospital, and was totally there until we had results. (Baby is fine.) When we were done, he was so drained, I had to wheel HIM out of the hospital! (I really don't mind. This is so much progress from being bedridden.) I was told I had a UTI, and given antibiotics.
The next night, though, I had the same pain, only 1000 times worse. We had our stepsons, so it was all I could do to be quiet, I was hurting so bad. I decided I needed to go back to the ER, and after getting dressed, I woke husband up and told him I was going. (Never gave him an option to go--I know, stupid, but we had the kids, and somebody has to be there with them. I. Could. Not. Wait.) By the time I got to the hospital, he texted me that my MIL was on the way to our house, and that he'd be there soon. 8 hours of me sobbing and yelling. Of me writhing on the bed, not understanding what was happening. He was there and was strong the whole time! He sat through my "shut ups," and "don't touch me's." When I kept talking about how hot I was, and trying to pull of the hospital gown, he took a cold cloth and wiped my back down over and over. He never failed. Turns out, after 2 rounds of Norco and 10 units of morphine, I was passing a kidney stone.
Now that it's gone, and I've slept a ton since then (like 13 hours Saturday night, 10 hours Sunday night, and 9 last night,) I'm doing great, but he is having trouble bouncing back.
In his sleep last night, he woke me up, and told me he was worried about me. I repeated what he said, and he said, "Yeah, I'm worried about you and the baby." When I told him (of course, he was asleep, so he remembers none of this,) that we were both fine, he said, "But I haven't felt her move, so I'm worried."
Everybody has felt her move. She goes nuts when he talks, but when his hand hits my belly, she just stops. He's seen the belly jumping around, so I know he knows she's ok, but it was so sweet that that was what was keeping him up. Not his injuries, not our other kids. Just me and Baby B.
