My mind has slipped since last pregnancy....we are going to have dinner at a nice steak restaurant Friday. I usually order filet. I like it cooked medium. Am I supposed to order it medium well?
I would think just make sure it's not moving on your plate and you should be fine. My DH and I are going out for our anniversary on Saturday night and I will be ordering a filet as well and will probably order it medium. Moderation is key. Also, I'm not a doctor.
I go with how much I trust the restaurant. I live in Vegas with a lot of quality fine dining steakhouses, so I trust medium. But if I were going to Outback Steakhouse, I'd go medium well. I love my steaks medium rare, so going full on well done is too much of a leap. If you order it well done, they're going to give you one of the worst pieces since they're cooking it to death anyway. And at that point, it completely takes away the flavor of a fillet, so why even order it? #steaksnob
Ahhhh soooo hard to come to grips with a medium-well filet!!! All good info, ladies :-) it's a pretty well known chop house so I would fully trust their meat. Just don't know if it's worth taking that chance.
Omg medium filets are not worth eating for me lol! I'd rather go without [-( anyways! I've been ordering all my steaks medium. I'm a medium rare girl (
Was told today by the nurse practitioner that you do not have to get it well done, 145 for red meats is adequate.
I don't really see what the potential risks are. The reason you can eat steak pink as opposed to hamburgers is because steak is never ground. They only potential risk for bacteria would be on the surface, and as long as that is cooked hot enough to kill bacteria then it shouldn't be a problem. Of course that's my opinion and I'm not a doctor, but I would still order medium.
