UPDATE:Mandatory bed rest for the weekend...now feeling depressed

Now on bedrest until further notice. Went back to the docs today and baby boy has moved himself down so much he's right at the cervix. Bedrest for him to hopefully move around and out of that area. Far too soon for him to make his way into the world.

  • Aw man. Here's hoping he moves back where he needs to be. Hopefully you can find something to entertain yourself while stuck in bed.

  • Man I'm sorry to hear that. I read your previous post and I feel you. I was on bed rest at home for three months. I've always been very independent so not being able to leave the house and have to stay put is a challenge. But keep your eyes on the prize!! It's worth it!

  • I'm so sorry to hear that. I was on bed rest for 3 weeks last time and it was so emotionally overwhelming. So hard to not do all the things you normally do and want to do. Will be thinking about you!
  • Sorry to hear that. Before I ever got pregnant I thought it would be wonderful to be put on bed rest but now that I can't do everything I want to I see how much it would suck. Can I ask how they determined baby was right at cervix? Was it with an ultrasound? I feel like I'm in the same situation as you, belly is way too big and started dropping. Went to L&D over the weekend for painful contractions and was released with no restrictions, but didn't get an ultrasound. Now I have so much pressure at the bottom of my belly I can barely walk. Been like this for three days and wondering if I should insist on seeing my doc again.
  • Sorry to hear that, you both are in my thoughts and prayers! Do you enjoy crossword puzzles, crochet, knitting, or reading to help pass the time and keep your mind off from worrying?

  • @preggoandglowing - they did a few ultrasounds and also a cervix check - she was able to feel his head during the cervix check. We had an external and internal ultrasound. With the internal ultrasound she was able to get the measurement for the cervix and while in there we could see his face - he's head down and already pushing.

With walking and extra movement causes contractions and pushes him down further so I'm not allowed to do anything until our next appointment.
  • Sending thoughts and prayers. Hopefully you'll be entertained with TB enough to not go insane.
  • prayers your way. Maybe you can find some crafting projects or things you can do on your bed such as baby book ect. I became a nerd one night and took up crocheting (youtube) and it wasn't that hard. Maybe there are shows you can catch up on or binge on. I'm really sorry you are experiencing this.

  • I was just put on bed rest last week. I'm actually working from home from my couch and bed with a laptop on a lap desk. I haven't left my house in a week and I just want to say that I can relate and it sucks! Laying around all day is much more uncomfortable than you would think and I'm already stir crazy.

  • Been working from home for two weeks now :) starting week three tomorrow - I LOVE my laptop desk, I love that I can raise it higher to fit over my bump too :)
  • @MEMichelson what desk did you get? Mine just sits on my lap. It's great, but then it gets uncomfortable after a while.

  • One day at a time! I'm on bedrest too after a quick stint of preterm labor this week. I'm dilating and contracting all the time, so hoping things quiet down. Did you get the steroid shots for his lungs?

If it makes you feel better, I was on bedrest from weeks 29-34 in my last pregnancy.  It is hard, but worth it in the end.  I remember a doctor telling me that for every day you keep the baby in, it is one less day in the NICU. Looking back, it is such a short time. This time I have a 6-year-old and a 2-year-old . . . much easier to just keep yourself busy than to deal with two little ones!

    Hang in there!

  • @MEMichelson that's nice! The one I have actually rests on my lap and makes it hard to adjust my position. Maybe I should but the bullet and get this.
