Feeling like a failure

I came to be induced on Sunday night due to high blood pressure at 39w1d. When I came in, I was finger tip. They gave me 12 hours of cervidil and I dilated to 1cm. They decided to do another round of cervidil and I did not dilate ahh further. I am now 5 hours into pitocin at a dose that my nurse says she can't remember last time it didn't work, and I am having no contractions. I am eager to talk to my doctor in a couple hours and see where we go from here... I am just feeling so discouraged.

Re: Feeling like a failure

  • *hugs* Please don't feel like any of this is your fault, everyone's body reacts differently tp being induced, likely your body isn't quite ready yet and may bw why there isn't mich response.

There's not much you can do but believe in yourself and look forward to holding your new baby! I am wishing you the best for your birth and hope you get an experience you are happy with.

    Good luck!

  • Sounds like how I was! None of the meds really helped me. I did the cervidal then we did the first round of poticin. Which didn't work either, then we tried the balloon cath. Which worked and I was dilated 3 cm. then they used the poticin again. It was a long and frustrated process but I never lost hope and I have a beautiful son. Everything will work out!
  • I was put on pitocin, and then cytotec and was at 1cm for over a day. I ended up being in labor for 44 hours. I would suggest getting the epidural, it helps speed up the process (at least it did for me). Good luck!
  • I got induced with my first because my water broke and I wasn't contracting. They pumped me full of pitocin all day. It took from like 9am-midnight to get to 8cm. It sucked but your body will catch up!
