Ok I wanted to get y'alls opinions and experience of birth control.
I have been taking a Lo Fe for a month now, I had breakthrough bleeding for 12 days, stomach cramps and for the last few days have been very irritiable. I sent my doctor a message to let her know I will not be taking anymore of the pill due to the side effects. I have heard horror stories of IUD's and whatnot. I am considering the depo or an IUD but wanted to know how things went for you ladies.

    After I had my first son I got on the depo. It worked and I didn't have a period. But when I decided to come off of it to try for another baby it took me about 5-6 months to get my period back and then another year before I got pregnant. I've heard that it has differs affects on different people, but I won't go on it again because of how long it took to get everything back to normal.

    I had Paragard iud last time with no issues. Got pm within 2 weeks of removal and just got another placed.

    I got an IUD. I had mild cramping for about a day. Took ibuprofen it was fine. I also had spotting, but hadn't stopped spotting since giving birth so not sure if it was the IUD or not. I've had it about 5 weeks now. No more spotting and I love that I don't have to do anything with it for the next 3 years.

    I just started the depo and have been on my period for two weeks and a couple of days. I will not be going in for my second shot in December. I know everyone is different but my experience has been ridiculous.

    I got my IUD, had spotting for a week or so. Don't have to think about it for 5 years!

    Has your Dr talked to you about the "mini pill"/ progesterone only pill? I am breastfeeding which is why I am on that but I have had terrible side affects to birth control in the past (super moody / mean to loved ones) I have been on the mini pill for 3 weeks and so far I don't feel any different what so ever. In the past I would feel different days after starting the pills. Fingers crossed but I think this may actually be the long term solution for me and I will stay on it after I am finished breastfeeding.

    Scheduled for my third Mirena in two weeks! I love that thing. Have had two kids after two prior removals (had my first Mirena before having a kid), so getting pregnant again hasn't been an issue. I had minor spotting and cramping for about a week after insertion, then my periods got shorter and lighter. Eventually mine disappeared to one day of minor spotting. Mirena is amaaaaazing.

    I also got the Mirena IUD. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do and waited until 13 weeks PP, but finally went and did it. It was my first time using an IUD, and I'm 'old' (over 35). I wish I had been using one before now. Its awesome. Having it placed was uncomfortable, sure, but after all those cervix checks, it was no big deal. I had some cramping for the remainder of that day (actually a little less strong than my normal period cramping), I took an advil for it and no problem. I spotted that afternoon and had some discharge for about 3 days (not bleeding, just discharge) and used a panty liner. And it hasn't been on my mind at all since then.

    I had been considering it for a couple of years before getting pregnant and didn't because I was afraid of all the horror stories I read on the interwebz. But I had to remind myself more people are likely to complain about something than rave about something, especially when it comes to medical stuff.

    Also, a lot of the ladies in my bmb have the Mirena and are doing just fine. That's actually what helped me to choose getting it, so many women I 'knew' having it with no problems or only minor complaints like bleeding after. I forget what we called that thread, but if you search Mirena on the June board you should be able to find it pretty easily

    I'm using the mirena IUD. I decided not to do the depo because I of allergic reaction, and also not the pill because I heard it can cause problems if you want to conceive again. I chose the mirena because the other IUD option I heard you get bad cramps and I already get bad cramps with my period and didn't want it to get worst. The mirenas side effect is just bleeding, and I don't really bleed a lot anyways and so far it is going great :) it just depends on the women and what your history is like.

    I was going to get the arm implant but when I found out it would cost nothing for me to get my tubes tied with my insurance, I did that instead. It's what I wanted to begin with but after paying so much to the doctors to have the baby, I didn't think I could pay for that too until they checked into it for me. 

    My sister had the IUD and hated it but everyone has different experiences.

    @ecloho I would def. just call your insurance. Mine covers both tubal and vasectomy, but we have met our deductible for the year because of LO's birth so it is covered 100% I was going to have DH get a vasectomy but when looking into both we decided I would get tubes tied. It is more 100% and there are No eggs getting fertilized. The procedure is outpatient and waaay easier than I ever imagined. And ya call your dr. ASAP to see if you should get either one done before the year is done to get it paid for.

    @ecloho my husband has Kaiser insurance he was still gonna have to pay 3 or 400 for his vasectomy

    My mother( yes my mother) has been on the pill since my brother and I were young. Since she is at a difficult age of 50 where it is possible to still get pregnant but no longer safe to be on the pill she wanted a permanent solution. About a month ago she had a procedure where the make two tiny approx 1 inch incisions in her abdomen and they put metal clamps on her tubes, so no egg can drop down. She said it was literally a 20 min procedure under anaesthetic and she was discharged from the hospital 2 hrs later. She said she had mild cramping for a couple days but was back at work 2 days later. Much less invasive then a tubal ligation. It is a permanent method so be sure your done having kids!
