Question about 1st time post partum sex

Hey ladies, maybe tmi, but I'm a little concerned.

DH and I had sex again for the 1st time since having Brock (12 weeks ago) the other day. I had a 3rd degree tear, and in my Dr's words "this is the worst I've ever seen!" So anyway, recovery sucked and and I didn't get clearance from the Dr to have sex until I was 10 weeks pp. I was scared, so we waited a little longer. Since having DS I had 2 bladder infections and 1 yeast infection :-( I'm convinced it was because of the catheter during labor.

Anyway, it hurt like hell while we were having sex. I was so tense, that I couldn't even let DH go all the way! He said that it hurt him too. He said it felt like something was scratching him. Afterwards he showed me the side of his penis that he felt the scratching and it was red and looked irritated.

What could that be about?

  • I just wanted to say that your son is adorable!!!

Sex for me hurt so much the first time that I couldn't let DH go in all the way either.  I have been too scared to do it since.  I need to make myself though.  I wish you luck!

  • Loading the player...
  • Well, did you use LOTS of lube?? Because if you weren't into it, then your juices weren't flowing!! I know it's hard and I had a c/s!!

Nice to see you around! I have to check your blog and add it to my google reader this weekend so we can keep in touch.

  • You are gonna feel a little raw during sex for a while, I am just now starting to feel comfortable having sex.  It isn't because of the tear it is just a typical PP issue.  Dryness is another problem PP which is why your DH's penis was irritated.

A little foreplay to warm you up and KY will improve things greatly!

  • the only thing I can think of is you still have stitches that haven't dissolved but that would be really really strange. Did you use lubricant? Maybe you were just way to dry.  I highly suggest lots and lots and lost of astroglide, so much better than ky.

  • Yeah we used a ton of lube. We even stopped to use more to see if it helped.

I think next time I might have a few glasses of wine after ds goes top bed! lol!

Yeah Blondie, add my blog. I check yours all the time! Charlie is so cute!

  • I had a third degree tear as well, and I have some scar tissue there, you can actually feel it, so everything feels a lot tighter for me! (Yeah, like I'm a virgin all over again! :)

Anyway, I had the doc check it out, and he said there is definitely some scar tissue, but there were a few options. He said about 1 in 10 have it re-cut (yeah, no thanks! And since I'm having another kid anyway, that one will surely tear me back open, so there's not point in going that route.) He laso said there were some things they could prescribe too rub on it (some kind of estrogen cream?) if I thought that was necessary.

Anyway, I have discovered that the more we do it, the less uncomfortable it is! But as soon as we take any time off (like a week for AF or something, it's so tight and a little uncomfortable all over again!) So it seems like the only way to fix that is to just do it all the time! Lucky DH! Hehe... :)

Sorry this is so long, I just feel like I'm kinda dealing with the same thing! Definitely get checked out by your doc and ask some questions! ;)

  • Thanks loveumike! Your daughter is precious!

Crazynervous - we used a lube i got from pure romance. I'll have to go out and some astroglide to try that. Thanks. DH thought it could have been a stitch too. I have my annusl next week anyway, so I'll just ask the dr.

  • Thanks radiokate! Thats god to know!
