Too much Tylenol

My Lo just turned five months today. She is teething and is having a rough time with it. I spoke with her pediatrician about teething tablets and he said no, only Tylenol. It's been a week and I've had to give her Tylenol every night, I just give her one dose. It gets worse at night, so my question is, Is it okay to give my baby Tylenol every day?

Re: Too much Tylenol

  • I did for a week and a half when my LO had a cold. She couldn't sleep and she was so miserable without it. She got like 3 doses a day tbh. My pedi said it was fine.

  • I think Tylenol is fine to give everyday, but what was the reason for no teething tablets? I have used those too
  • He didn't say, only "I don't like to use teething tablets." So idk. But thank you.
  • Don't use the hylands teething tablets there was a recall on them
  • I may be the minority, but I am against giving Tylenol for anything other than a bad fever. Recent studies have shown Tylenol doesn't actually reduce pain as much as they say they do.

Why don't you try other methods of relief?

Extra comfort nursing (if you breastfeed)
Cold spoon or cold teething toys
    Frozen wash cloths
    Gum massage
Cold apple sauce or other food that is chilled, or frozen fruit in those mesh bags, you could even make breast milk Popsicles or fruit Popsicles
    Sippy cup with cold water

    Good luck!

  • My LO has a nasty cold and has been taking a dose of Tylenol before bed which my ped has said is fine.

At this age of some of our little ones, mine is only 4 1/2 months, and so apple sauce and cold water in a sippy cup aren't an option. I have used the Hylands Teething Gel and found success....many of my mom friends have used it to with success.

Don't worry about the Tylenol! If it makes your LO feel better and sleep better that's what's important.
