Hair care and lack of kicks!

I am leaving for the store to get some new shampoo and conditioner cause being pregnant has made my hair KNOTTY and thin. Any suggestions?! Also, I'm 19 weeks 1 day and no kicks. I'm so scared that something might be wrong. Am I being irritational?

Re: Hair care and lack of kicks!

  • I'm not sure about shampoo and conditioner I use one called bed head and it's great leaves hair glossy and soft. And as for the no kicks I wouldn't worry. With my son I didn't feel him till 23+ with this one it's been earlier but I'm a stm. Try not to worry. I know easier said than done but all will be fine

  • I really liked Pantene Beautiful Lengths, do you also take your prenatal? That should help. In regards to kicking, my dr told me I probably wouldn't feel anything until around 20-22 weeks, so I wouldn't be too worried. I've only felt what feels like muscle spasms a little bit which I believe is baby. No real noticeable "kicks."

Not sure if you can get it at a supermarket but Kiehls is amazing. I use it once or twice a week and then comb in the shower and no knots!
  • Here is a pic of the one I use.
  • I'm having the same issue with my hair, I've been trying to use less conditioner, thinking maybe it's weighing my hair down. I didn't really feel consistent kicks with this one until around 20wks, before that is was very sporadic flutters.

  • I'm 21 weeks today and still didn't feel the baby kicking. I had my anatomy scan today. The technician asked me if I felt anything when the baby turned over during the ultrasound. Still a nope. However, she said it is normal and the baby is fine. Just be patient.
  • I'm about at the same spot as op, and was about to ask the same question about kicks. Nice to hear some reassurance!
  • I've been using OGX vitamin E set, it's a little bit more pricey but well worth it since it's safe to use daily (and it isn't tested on animals, woot woot) I also pair it with the cucumber conditioner from dove. It works wonders! I used to have reAlly soft and luscious hair without trying. And now I'm scared I might go bald with how bad it got!! My hair is finally returning to normal since I switched to this routine. Also argon oil spritzes or oils to leave in during the day time are great too.
  • As far as the kicks, I just recently started feeling them at a little over 20 weeks, she's very VERY active now, so be careful what you wish for!

Actually you will want to use less shampoo. If your hair is getting too bad a condition only treatment will help. Also try using lukewarm or cold water when you wash. If you dry your hair right away after the shower, stop doing that for a few days . It'll allow more moisture into your locks and help a bit too.

(I just discussed all this with my friend who is opening up her own beauty salon this week, so disclaimer, she is the all knowing master, not I.)
  • My hair has been really knotty too. Started doing a coconut oil mask once a week and it cleared right up.
