My poor husband.... Anyone else start nesting?

So I believe I started nesting.... Like hard core freakishly nesting though. I don't realize how crazy some of the things I'm doing are until a few days later when I start to think about it. When I'm in the act they are totally justified. I washed the ceiling in our bathroom the other day because I felt like the germs were piling up on the ceiling. Then, when I was done with that, I realized that the kitchen ceiling has never been washed either so I started cleaning that and my husband came home in the middle of it and asked what the heck I was doing. Well that OF COURSE lead to a hysterically crying break down over me freaking out about all the ceilings in the house not being cleaned. He made me stop and took me to dinner. Smart, smart guy.....

Anybody else in my boat?? Tell me I'm not the only crazy pregnant women...

Re: My poor husband.... Anyone else start nesting?

  • While I haven't washed the ceilings, I did spend yesterday shampooing my couches... The previous week I made the whole family wash the walls top to bottom. All 3500 square feet just because I could swear I was seeing dirt everywhere. Maybe we are all crazy.

  • I use my swifer on the ceiling, because i am also crazy. Right now I am taking all doors on the top floor off because they haven't been painted since my last baby, so clearly they need to be. I just love how what I'm doing really makes no sense, because my bathroom hasn't been cleaned in almost two weeks. We are changing the vanity and floors, my husband tossed the old vanity and moved all cleaning supplies to the basement. Going and getting that seems like of much work, so I'll take all the doors down and paint them instead.

  • I've been unemployed since the end of August and went through huge purge of crap in our house. I just donated it all to a local thrift store that supports an animal shelter. My husband kept telling me to look at stuff to make sure we actually didn't need it. Which of course I did, he's just not as a good with separating from stuff as I can be.

Def have a lot more to do. And really need to clean my house, like today lol.
  • We're in the middle of a DIY basement reno, so my crazy nesting instincts have mostly been directed towards that. I haven't cleaned a bathroom in weeks, it might be time to refocus
  • I am in the middle of a huge purge right now. We live in a small one bedroom apartment and plan to stay here for another year. I read an article saying if you don't have strong feelings of love for something after holding it for 10 seconds to get rid of it. (And not a necessity) That's what I've been doing and so far works great. I will make room for baby!!

  • OP, there must be something in the air bc my nesting yesterday turned into irrational crying because DHs drum set wasn't cleaned after he picked it up from his parents garage (2 years ago!) and it's been temporarily stores in our bedroom while we clean and prep the 2nd bedroom for baby. So now our room feels all dirty to me and I can't do as much fast cleaning or heavy lifting these days so I felt helpless and melted into a puddle of hormones and tears lol. My poor DH.
  • I just am freaking out about this nursery! I want to get it together so bad, but we don't have anything for it yet. I keep telling my husband how guilty I feel and how badly I want to have my baby's room put together. It's honestly starting to really get to me!
  • Glad I'm not the only one! If im not working or with friends, I'm either cleaning (and noticing a million other things I could clean/organize in the process!), frantically making to do lists, or doing the exact opposite- vegging out watching junk television. So much for balance...?
  • I have been chucking things out and cleaning out cupboards in the kitchen. Pulled the sliding door off the tracks to clean it and plan on pulling all the windows out of the tracks to give them a good clean too. Painting is next on my to do list.
  • Mine hasn't really kicked in yet. I've done some nursery things and washed the baby clothes and set up a few things. But my hubby reminded me the other day that while pregnant with our now two year old I went crazy. Apparently I was cleaning out closets at 3am! Hoping that comes soon cause I've been pretty slack even on normal chores and cleaning!
  • I was really discouraged wondering how I was ever going to be motivated enough to get house ready for baby.....but then I discovered that nesting is a very real, very insinctual thing lol.

I started deep cleaning.... re-organizing closets, cleaning base boards, throwing stuff out, setting nursery up...

I'm relieved to have the motivation and energy to get everything done!!! My husband probably hates it though because I keep moving all his crap haha.

    Yayyyyy for nesting!
  • Yes this is totally me. Although we are in rented and it has so many jobs that need doing (which we agreed to do in exchange for cheaper rent) and it's really been getting to me lately. I've been naughty and embracing the DIY rather than waiting for hubby to do it! I've finished the baby's area in the kids room and I've bought everything he needs already and washed most stuff. I've made and put up a shelf in our kitchen larder, been washing like a crazy loon (everything in the house) & I've been wallpapering our bedroom and I've got my eye on decluttering the house and painting the bathroom ASAP and then painting the kitchen! Yes I do it add odd times too like in the middle of the night - think it's been driving my poor hubby crazy
  • Moved every piece of furniture in our bedroom to dust/sweep/mop around it yesterday and kept feeling like I just couldn't get the floor clean enough.  I probably mopped 3 times before just scrubbing with a rag.  Didn't even strike me as odd until I read this, even though I have NEVER in my life cleaned like that before :)  Silly hormones!
  • Judging by how my bathroom currently looks, my nesting has yet to begin! I've scrubbed down a few hand-me-down baby gear items with Lysol wipes, but that's as much as I've done. I'm just obsessing over nursery decorating right now!

  • Last time around I nested pretty seriously. One day I took it upon myself to scrape out all of the silicone grout in our shower/tub combo because I couldn't get it clean enough! Unfortunately baby was born before I could replace it!

Yesterday I started to sort and wash ds' newborn and 0-3 month gender neutral clothes so they can be hanging in the closet and folded in the drawers before baby comes. Today I'm going to clear out the room upstairs that dh and I will be moving into so we can start the remodel asap. I have such a huge list!
  • Luckily mine hasn't started yet.. I'm sure my SO won't mind when it does judging by how I'm still in veg out mode.
My doctor keeps telling me to not over do anything until I'm 32 weeks...
The only thing I'm getting really irritated with is the fact that the baby room is still full of SO's things ( we plan to move it to my moms house this week) and the fact we don't have any of the furniture..
But crazy cleaning- nope not yet
  • Mine has started in full swing. Yesterday I cleaned the windows inside and out. I have already scrubbed the inside of all the cabinets. Next week we are having the carpets professionally cleaned. After that, I have a tile/grout cleaner coming to do the master shower. Its stuff that should be done but I have the urge that we need to do it NOW!
  • Mine hasn't started at all really. My husband is waiting n hoping the cleaning begins lol. The house NEEDS it. I'm too busy being obsessed with cereal & pintrest lol ;)
  • My nesting urge is always there lately. Do I take action on it all? Sometimes...but sometimes Netflix wins;)
  • I think I started nesting, I feel like everything has to be clean and put away, which is a challenge when you have a toddler. I don't mind because I like everything to be clean, but it drives me crazy because I can't get everything done that I want.
