This is a weekly check-in for those in their 2nd trimester: weeks 14 through the end of week 27.
Congrats to all the strong ladies who have made it this far! It's such a great feeling and we've all accomplished so much! We are now 1 week closer to the end of this epically long journey we call "infertility".
Please post below a little about yourself, how many beans you have growing inside, if you have found out the sex(es) and what your EDD is. Please also let us know how far you've made it on your journey and when your next appt is and what for.
QOTW: I don't think we've mentioned this yet... Do we have any tattooed Moms or plans for tattoos after your LO makes his/her/their appearance?

Not much to report from last week. My new insurance goes into effect on the first and rumor has it they have midwives available on top of the hospital services. I'll let you guys know what I find out. No tattoos. Just about the only thing I'd have tattooed is medical information like diabetes or something that people wear bracelets for, but so far, I'm in good health.
So, not much new here, but TWICE in the past 3 days I've sneezed and a lot of pee came out! Ugh. Like, just a little trickle, but enough to have to change. I'm 16 weeks- isn't it too early for this already? Lol. Do kegels really help with this?
Qotw: I have 4 tattoos. I got a tramp stamp of my astro sign when I was 20 (back in 2000 when they were cool?), and then a thunderbird on my back/shoulder blade (DH is part Native American and at the time I thought I was too - mom was wrong). My 3rd I got after several failed fertility treatments and I was feeling depressed - it's the Chinese symbol for "happy" (I also studied Chinese for years and it's the symbol that represents the sound of my first name). Finally, before my successful IVF I got my fourth on my arm - a sun and moon combo in a tree. Kind of a yin/yang thing with a hippy/earth vibe. I might get more to represent this baby after she's born - tattoos are addicting ((Sorry that seemed like a really long answer)).
We had a followup Friday to recheck the cervix. The tech could see the girl pushing on it with her butt, which I can feel and is not comfortable, making it measure 2.6 cm again. Then, she'd pull herself back and it would measure 3 cm. The doctor wasn't too positive that's what caused it to shorten but he isn't too worried at this point. He disagreed with my regular doctor (they schedule us to see all 5 doctors in the practice in case our doctor isn't on call for delivery) that I was put on bed rest before. So for now, I was told to take it easy, not push myself, and to call right away if any other symptoms develop. Also, from now on he doesn't recommend ultrasound checks for it but rather manual cervical checks at every appt. That sounds fun! (Sarcasm)
We have a growth scan appt at week 28 and then it'll all be a mad dash from there! Especially since this weekend is our first shower!
QOTW- I have 8 tattoos that are all easily hidden by a tshirt and shorts. I honestly regret most of them, which is a same but am very glad I was picky on their placements. I do not plan to get any more tattoos. DH himself has none and is against any new ones. He did say I could get one or two to commemorate our lost babies but I decided to do that in other ways.
Hello, ladies! This is my first post in this group as I've graduated from the 1st trimester board.
I'm 14w3d with a baby boy due March 25, 2016. My transition into my 2nd trimester was celebrated with a catheter!
Last Thursday (13w6d), I literally couldn't pee. As in super full bladder and zero urination. I had to to the hospital where they put in a catheter. It had to stay in all weekend (which was really, really crappy), and I saw my doctor today. He removed it and (thankfully!) I could pee again. The baby is totally OK. The thought is that my growing uterus put pressure on my bladder and ultimately blocked my urethra. Sorry for the details, but this the crazy stuff we deal with. Now I have self-catherization stuff in case in happens again.
QOTW: I have one perfect tattoo of a small butterfly on my lower right back I got when I was 18. It reminds me change can be good and to keep an open mind/heart about what will come next.

@blessedwtwins holy crap, glad you are back online! People are ridiculous. And good luck with the cervix (...which is one of the oddest things I've ever said!)
@knottie4978096 hope the new insurance works out well for you!
@mrsloriw - the dreaded sniss! Have had it a couple times this time, dunno if kegels help or not, but I am trying to remember to do them...
@CTinNV welcome to second tri! The catheter thing sounds so unpleasant, glad it's resolved and I hope it doesn't recur.
AFM...not much new. Waiting on the results of my glucose challenge. Baby Girl had hiccups tonight, which was fun to feel! Other than that, nothing new.
QOTW: no tattoos here.
Me: 37 | DH: 38 | Married 9/2012, low AMH, high FSH
First-ever BFP after IUI #4 (Follistim) - Baby Girl born (36w2d) 8/8/2014!
@mrsloriw tattoos are addicting! I can't wait for my next one! @blessedwtwins it's so nice to have someone of your caliber join the group @CTinNV I think you have the best due date...it's my birthday! Plus you get to celebrate with Elton John and Aretha Franklin @marnief I love the baby hiccups! Our little guy has them at least once a day, which makes me think he'll take after DH (he gets them for DAYS at a time:( )
On my end: I have an appointment this Friday, just a routine checkup and FINALLY get to schedule my glucose test. I'm starting to be a little on edge with my OB because he's SO mellow and not in a hurry for anything... But it's probably for the best since that attitude counters my neurosis! I'm part way through week 25 and headed to 3rd Tri shortly (seriously, already?!) so if anyone else thinks that they would like to take over for 2nd Tri, start thinking about that now
QOTW: I have 7 tattoos, and now that one is a cover-up I only am unhappy with one of mine. The artist didn't do what I wanted and make something which was supposed to be light and airy really dark and meh looking. I'm trying to figure out a way to modify or cover it up without it turning into a blob. I started a flower garden on my back for birth-month flowers... A daffodil and water lily for me and my husband, and a mum for my Mom I have two black feathers with "you were only waiting for this moment to be free" for our losses. I will be adding a carnation for this LO along with a vibrant peacock feather to represent that he is our rainbow baby
@marnief, I've said so many weird and strange things due to our struggles and this pregnancy that it all seems normal to me. I never pictured my husband asking me how my cervix was feeling and it being normal, haha. Also, how can you tell they're hiccups? I've read of women experiencing this and I have yet to feel it.
@andimegie325, if it makes you feel better, my glucose test isn't until my 28 week appt next week. That's what the practice protocol is.
@andimegie325 thanks for posting! @blessedwtwins welcome! glad your cervix is holding up! @mrsloriw liners are my best friend @CTinNV welcome to 2nd tri! Hello to anyone I missed!
I see my specialist this afternoon, excited to see them and how much they have grown! QOTW: I have a sun on my ankle. 18y and stupid , wish I had never gotten it!
@blessedwtwins - the hiccups feel a little like popcorn popping - a burst of little moves. I guess she could just be suddenly kicking a bunch of times in a row and then stopping, but I'm guessing it's hiccups.

@mrsloriw kegels do help! But you have to remember to do them!!
@blessedwtwins I remember from a prior pregnancy knowing it was hiccups bc every night an hour after dinner he would do them and they are almost regular enough to time in between!! Funny thing was after he was born that first week after dinner he would still get them!!
My update! 19 weeks and had the anatomy scan that went great!! Previa moved and the placenta is still low lying, but VBAC is back on the table! Next u/s around 30 weeks. Loving all the little kicks of reassurance and yesterday was my birthday (officially advanced maternal age lol!!). We settled on baby girls name after my grandmom!! It was amazing seeing her on the monitor and confirming still a girl! I didn't believe the bloodwork! No dangle between the legs! DH is so over that joke! We are both super excited that a healthy baby is on the way!!! I could be half way as my boys were 1 and 2 weeks early on the dot from their due dates!! Halfway!
Side note we just went under contract on a house to possibly flip!! As if a basement remodel, 3rd kid and general life wasn't crazy enough!!
QOTW: no tattoos on me, but DH has one. When we were dating he said he liked that I was "plain"!! Totally came out wrong and I tease him still. I thought about one after we lost our twin boys, but nothing ever felt right.

Hi everyone, I'm mobile and terrible at personal responses, but big thanks to our new check in leader! I read all of your posts, it's just so hard to tag from the app...
My birthday was last week so there was a lot of cake involved I'll have to get sugar back under control... Ha, it was all worth it.
Had a good appt today, and scheduled my glucose screen for my next one at 28 weeks. Also got my flu shot (woo) and my monthly thyroid blood levels done, so I'm feeling very poked and prodded this evening. Good thing all the bloodwork and self administered shots for ivf got me used to feeling like a pin cushion .
QOTW: no tattoos here. I love them, but have never actually gone through with it for myself. I've accompanied many friends though. Maybe someday I'll go for it.
Oh! @blessedwtwins I just realized that you are you! I guess I'm not on enough, but I'm sure glad you are back (can't believe you were gone...crazy people.) and I tagged from mobile! Learning!
Passed my glucose test! Yay carbs!! AND just found out a good friend is preggo and due in Feb after a LONG hard battle with IF. She was my guide for my first pregnancy - her first is a couple years older than mine, and she had a rocky journey to have that baby as well. SO SO SO excited for her! Yay good news.

Hi, ladies! This is a reminder that you will need to start up the 3rd tri check in when you are ready for it. There are only 2 of us left on there, and we are both about to pop!
Hello, i had my anatomy scan and it confirmed the blood test that I am having two girls. They are 9oz and 11oz. The bigger one had a white spot in her heart which is a soft marker for Downs. The cell free dna test was negative though. I am going to skip an amnio or cvs since the thought of losing them at almost 20 weeks is scarier than it was months ago. Guess we will find out in 18 more weeks.
I have one small tattoo that you can't see if I have any clothes on. However, I am thinking of getting one that would incorporate a nod to my girls and my mom who passed this spring.

How exciting!!!!!! That's amazing you guys made it so far in your journey. I hope you both have easy births. I just hit 27 weeks yesterday so I will take it up next Monday
@blessedwtwins An early congratulations to you on hitting the third tri! I'm glad you'll stay up the check-in! Congrats to everyone, and I hope you have easy, magical pregnancies! I can't believe I'm really going to have a baby!
Congrats for moving on. Had our anatomy scan last week and she didn't cooperate so we went back today. All looks good and the dr confirmed all looks great. She is moving around and made sure to give us jazz hands. The best way to start a Monday only to end the day finding out my company is giving us an extra 4 weeks of maternity leave starting in 2016 so best Monday so far!
