Trouble TTC

New to the site (children mentioned )

Hi my name is Amy. This is my second time dealing with infertility. I have twin girls with my first husband after over a year of trying unsuccessfully. No dx. Clear hsg & blood work. One round of clomid & I conceived my girls. Fast forward 10 yrs to present. Im remarried & even though I was told that since my girls were conceived "easily" I should have no problems conceiving again I am back at the beginning. We tried naturally for a year. Tried 2 rounds of clomid from my regular Dr. And nothing. Then we took a couple months off to move cross country. Im currently seeing a specialist & again all blood work is normal, except for slightly elevated prolactin. I have af like clockwork every 26-30 days. Last cycle ultrasound & lab work showed I had a good sized follicle & ovulated. Husbands sample is great. We do the deed every 2-3 days and still nothing. We follow up with Dr next week to discuss the game plan. Its frustrating to be going through this all over again. Current husband is definitely more supportive & Im hoping being part of this site will help with the negative & "im all alone" feelings I had last time.

I had a slightly elevated prolactin, which my OB just wanted to monitor for a few months. I have a history of hypothyroidism, and really thought my thyroid was under active again based on symptoms. My TSH and T4 levels came back normal on the initial test, but my prolactin was slightly elevated. I got my prolactin tested again in 2 months and it went up again. My TSH and T4 were normal at that point. My OB stated we would just monitor it again and pushed back DH's SA another month. I got frustrated after my dad (a cardiologist) consulted with an endocrinologist about my levels. The endocrinologist said that even a small elevation in prolactin could affect fertility. I instantly made an appointment with an RE (I juse approached my 12 mon the mark at that time too). When he did my blood work, my TSH was slightly above normal and prolactin raised again. I think to the low 40s. He was going increase my thyroid medicine either way as he wants the TSH level to be between 1 and 2, not the standard 1 and 4. Anway, that did the trick and my prolactin was down to 18 or 17 next visit. I'm still not pregnant, but at least that was resolved. Did your RE ensure your TSH is normal?

    Good luck to you!

  • Welcome! So sorry you're struggling. We are dealing with unexplained infertility so I know how frustrating it can be. Glad to hear you have a supportive husband! That is so key. I'd have gone batshit crazy by now if it wasn't for my wonderful hubby!
