Help with name please :) she is a he !

I've really, really been thinking about Theodore. Theo for short. Am I setting my baby up to be tormented :( ?
Other names I like are Simon..
Please suggest original or Un common baby boy names !
Or give an opinion on Theodore or Simon :)

  • My grandpa was named Theodore, so I like that name. He could go by Theo, Ted, or Teddy! I don't think you're setting him up to be tormented at all. :)

  • Both Theodore and Simon are lovely names :)
  • I realized that shortly after :( was not on purpose . There just two names I've always loved
  • I like both names a lot!
  • Alvin?
    ALVIN!!!

On a more related note, I think that Theodore is a lovely classic. I think that the nick name Theo is adorable. I have a coworker whose son is two and goes by Teddy. Don't worry about your child getting teased for this reason or that. Youngsters are going to poke fun at each other for any reason. It won't matter if you give him the most "normal" or "popular" name. You just teach that LO to be proud and resilient and know how to stick his tongue out at the meanies! hahaha "I am rubber and you are glue. The words you say, bounce off me and stick to you!"

Simon is also an adorable name! It's very classic and I feel like we haven't heard it in a while.

  • When I hear the name Theodore, I think of Theodore Tugboat. It was a children's show here when I was a child. Otherwise, I like both names. I think Theodore is very sweet - a friend of mine shares the name and goes by Theo mostly. Lots of people will think of Alvin and the Chipmunks when they hear both names, but everyone is going to have their own relations for every name you think of, whether they like it or not. It all depends on which you like best and feel will suit your baby better.

  • I love Theodore it's very old fashioned. Cornelius is another one I like. Not very common either.
  • I like Theodore more but that's mostly because we're about 95% sure that will be our little guys name with the NN of Teddy.
  • I also like Theodore. I had a very good friend growing up named Ted/Teddy.
  • My grandpa was named Theodore, so I like that name. He could go by Theo, Ted, or Teddy! I don't think you're setting him up to be tormented at all. :)
Same here - and my brother has always said he's using that name if he has a boy. Mine went by Teddy. I think more 'classic' names are coming back, so follow your gut! The only thing I thought when you also said Simon was the Chipmunks which, now that I read the rest of the responses, I see I was not alone in thinking!

  • I have also picked Theodore (Theo for short)- as my top name and I had never even thought of the "chipmunks" connection. I wouldn't worry about him being bullied - there are much more bully-able names out there!
  • I like Theodore (Teddy). It was on our list for a boy but we're having a girl. I especially liked it because in Spanish it's Teodoro which is very close to "I adore you."
  • I just want to clarify, the ONLY reason I thought of the chipmunks was because she thought of both Simon and Theodore. As long as the names aren't first and middle I don't see anyone else making such a connection. Just to reassure you, mama.
  • Thank you beautiful ladies :) I feel like it's going to take me super long to pick but It definetly won't have Theodore and Simon in one name :)
  • Theodore/Theo is a wonderful name! I don't think he'd get teased at all. I love it!

  • Our boy name was Theodore, Theo for short. I think it's great!
  • Theodore with Theo for short. Not a fan of the Ted/Teddy nicknames.
A good friend of mine wanted Theodore for her last child but her husband wouldn't agree :|
