Anyone pricing diapers?

This week I started pricing diapers. I made an excel spreadsheet on my phone (dork I know.) Just wondering if anyone else has started. I think I'll end up going with a store brand like Kirkland or Up & Up as long as baby likes them. I just can't justify spending the money on Pampers!

Re: Anyone pricing diapers?

  • Check Amazon mom.
  • Loading the player...
  • I have bought several brands as they come on sale and I have coupons to combine with the sale.  I have decided that .15c each is my price point and I won't go above that if I don't have to.  So far I have about 300 huggies, 600 Pampers, 150 Honest Co and 50 Seventh Generations all ranging in sizes from NB to 2.  Haven't had to buy any store brands yet.  I have heard great things about Kirkland though and am not opposed to it. But as long as I can get the name brands under my price point, I am sticking with them! :)

  • I love pricing diapers! Granted for the past 5 years I've always had a baby in diapers, if not two kiddos. Amazon mom is good, as is the damaged box section of Amazon. Kirkland diapers are an excellent deal when they have their coupon on it, which happens about every other month, so you can stock up. Also Kirtland diapers are made by huggies, So they are almost identical to the huggies ones that Costco sells.
  • Like PP said I buy them while they are on sale. Krazycouponlady.com has a baby section and tells you what store has diapers and baby items on sale and what coupons to print. I usually try to stay under $.15 a diaper also. And for wipes I try to stay under $.01 or $.02 a wipe. Since I'm a FTM I am not sure which ones will work best for baby but have mostly stocked up on Pampers and Huggies and keeping receipts
  • If you go to babygearlab.com they have the pricing broken out by brand :) They also compared the brands against each other. We are going with Honest and Seventh Generation. The Honest bundle from their website is a pretty good deal but it's more than $0.15 per diaper. My husband & I both have very sensitive skin and have to use soaps that are free of dyes & scents. Just going in assuming the same for this little guy!
  • I consider a stock-up deal to be $0.12 or better (including tax). I've got a mixed stash of pampers, huggies, luvs, seventh generation and store brand in NB to size 2 for my twins about 1850 diapers. My son did best in cheap diapers because he had chicken legs and needed a more square shape.

I plan to sign up for the multiples programs after I have the girls (most require proof) so I can get more diaper coupons. I like the Sam's club and Walmart wipes because they are thick, haven't irritated my 1st kid and are $0.014-$0.017 each.
  • I did a price comparison a while ago. With the Amazon mom discount pampers are the same price as up & up and Kirkland. So we chose to go with pampers.

Where can I find the damaged box section on Amazon? I've never heard of this!

If you click on product categories and scroll to the bottom you should see "amazon warehouse" under the deals section. The you search diapers from there.

This. It's a hit and miss but sometimes they have really good deals.

  • I have been building my stockpile from CVS and will buy a jumbo pack for $5 or less. (So depends on the size for price per diaper) so I won't get unless I can get for 50% off or more. Wipes I also will get when I can pay about $.02 per wipe ;) gotta love coupons!!!

What is your method for getting them that cheap? Any secrets to share?

I get the Sunday paper for coupons, use the cartwheel/savings app, and always look for clearance. I also visit coupon mom and karst coupon lady for matchup ideas, I also joined all the big brand diaper clubs for printable coupons.

A few good score instances: I shop a Kroger and they had a $4 off any size of their brand diaper in their coupon app in the store I calculated thesmall 44ct package to be the best deal at $0.06 a diaper. Target printed a Catalina (register tape coupon) for $5 off seventh gen diaper any size in the small 32ct package they cost $0.11 a diaper.

Often the smaller packages become the cheapest with a good coupon and sale/rebate matchup. I'm also not brand obsessed because my son did best in cheap diapers.

Well I feel extremely underprepared now. I have 1 box of pampers size N and 1 box of pampers size 1 X_X
I am right there with you. I have one small bag of NB and one box of size ones. I prefer finding the store that has the cheapest price regularly and sticking with it (bj's but I do stock up when they have a coupon).

  • Has anyone tried jet.com? They look like a little cheaper then I pay at the wholesale club for DS diapers. They have a $15 coupon off $35 right now also.

Just heard of them a few days back and I love the idea. I haven't checked into the prices much but if it came close to the same prices I'm paying now I wouldn't be adverse to using them.
  • FYI and I forget if this is already on this thread or not. Babies R Us is having a special that if you buy any 2 boxes of Huggies or Pampers (priced at $42.99) you get a $20 gift card!

  • I am so underprepared. I have a couple of boxes of NB, size 1 and size 2. I keep telling my husband we need to stock up (these were all from the showers) and he says we do not and that we already have way too many. I'm going to let him have his way for now. He won't believe what I say, so our daughter will quickly show him and then he'll have to run to the store.

    We're having twins

Our angel baby boy is looking over his twin sister - due November 21

  • Seconding the Amazon prime for huggies! Deal is for 50% off a case of diapers and wipes
  • Not sure if anyone here has checked out cloth diapers but I freaking love cloth diapering! They are NOT what our parents or grandparents used. Lol. This will be our 3rd baby and I have cloth diapered all so far. Even hubby commented with #2 how nice it was to not worry about buying diapers. Just throwing it out there if anyone is concerned about diapering costs.

Awesome! I highly recommend a local Facebook group if you can find one! There can be great support there!
  • I couldn't justify pampers either, especially when I could get ones like Luvs so cheap. But Amazon has them for a much more reasonable price! Plus I get them once a month shipped so I'm not having to get them at the store where they take up a ton of room in my basket. With subscribe and save if you buy 5 items/ mo you get an extra 15% off (that doesn't stack on with the diapers though since they're already 20% off) so I buy wipes off there as well!

Thank you so much for this web site!!
  • I've also been getting diapers when they have really good sales, like the 50% off at Amazon earlier this week. I'm following the coupon boutique on Facebook, which is great for letting you know when and how you can get super low pricing on diapers.
  • Not sure if anyone saw the target up and up deal, but if you buy two packs of them, you get a $30 gift card. If you have a red card you also get 5% off which brings the price to less than $0.10/ diaper
  • @smmitchell456 I was just going to share that, too.
  • I just buy Costco Kirkland or huggies which ever one is on sale. It seems to be the best price unless you find diapers on clearance at another store. Plus I have the executive membership so It all adds up when I get my check in February from all my purchases
  • Also keep an eye out on your local drug stores like CVS and Walgreens. It seems like they would be more expensive, but with sales and coupons, they come out to be pretty good. I have seen the store brands go on sale and then be buy one get one free on top of that. And CVS online does 25% off with free shipping on a regular basis and diapers are included.

How freaky is it that this app shuffles profile pictures like this sometimes? Never noticed someone else having mine.
