New here! TTC with PCOS

I've been TTC for 5 months now and I have pcos. Started taking metformin at first then took provera to regulate my periods, then femara to increase follicle growth. This cycle I've combined Bravelle and femara and had an ultrasound last week where one follicle has grown to 19mm! Did the trigger shot on 9/21 then TI on 9/22. So I'm in the 2WW but honestly not too hopeful because we only had TI once and I feel like I'd feel differently by now if I was pregnant. Plus I'm reading lots of threads where for some it's a year or more struggle and that has me somewhat discouraged. We can't afford the iui at this point and we wanted to try once on our own.

Anyone have experience with any of those meds and success?

Welcome and good luck. I'm just wondering if your husband has had an SA and you have had a postcoital test? Both of these test results can impact success rates of TI. Also, I'm assuming your HSG test was normal?

Thanks @riveridgional. We chose not to do the SA yet because he has a son with his ex wife and they had no trouble conceiving and the test wasn't covered by his insurance so it would have been out of pocket. Do you know if the postcoitial test is something that would cost extra out of pocket or does insurance cover it? My insurance doesn't cover meds like bravelle or hcg shot but they do cover ultrasounds, tests at the RE, and prescription meds for fertility. Thanks for the tips though I'll look into both to help with The chances of TI working out.

If funds are limited, I would get the PCT before the SA due your DH's history. Not intending to add any stress or concern, but it's not a guarantee he is still normal. That being said, I would have probably made the same decision if I were in your shoes. My PCT was not covered by insurance, but it was a test performed by my RE, so I'm not sure whether it would be covered for you. Your doctor's office should be able to tell you. It cost me $87.00. It can definitely save you time and heartache. If the results are poor, then you know either something is wrong with DH's sperm or you have a toxic environment or antibodies are hurting the sperm's chances and an IUI would be needed to up your chances. My PCT results were great so we actually haven't done an SA at the rec of my doctor and my doctor told us an IUI wouldn't have a measurable difference of success. Hopefully that will be your case too!

Hey there, I have PCOS too. TTC for 18 mos. on metformin, letrezole, and hcg trigger shot. We re also not doing IUI .... Yet. Doing TI for now as I'm 31 and we have some time. Plus, getting semen from my man in a sample cup is not only really difficult, but he said he felt "used" afterwards! lol, welcome to my life! All the tests and checks and pokes and prods.
Anywho, keep plugging along. This is only my 2nd round on meds, and missed O and trigger last month so does that even count?

Hey @yellingbanana--sorry to hear you've been trying for 18 mos and no bfp yet. You're young yes, but it still is likely frustrating to have to keep trying that long with no results. I think I'm going to have to get my DH"s sperm tested as this last cycle ended in a BFN and I"m not sure what we're doing wrong...so best to try to figure out if it's him now, not me! I can imagine he won't enjoy the exprerience much either!

Keep plugging along is right...that's all we can do, right? Good luck to you in your TTC journey:)
