Trouble TTC

Very new to TTC.

Hi there. My name is Chelsea and I am 26 years old. My boyfriend and I have been TTC for five months now, which I understand is not that long of a time. I am just wondering when I should be going to the Doctors to see if anything is wrong. Thank you in advance.

Re: Very new to TTC.

  • Hi, Chelsea.

Unless you have a pre-existing diagnosis that you know can impact fertility (like pcos), the rule of thumb is one year if you're under 35. Lots of healthy couples take up to a year to conceive. It doesn't mean anything is wrong - it's just statistics and biology!

    Good luck!

  • Welcome Chelsea. As the previous poster said, it can take up to one year for healthy couples to conceive naturally. As hard as it is not to, try not to stress, and enjoy the process of trying to make your baby. My husband and I didn't see a fertility specialist until our third year TTC, after two miscarriages, and we still have no answers. Many prayers to you for a BFP in the near future!!
  • I was ttc for 11 months and didnt think anything was wrong. I went in for my annual gyno appt and the dr whipped out an infertility packet. I was blind sided! I shouldnt have been but i was. As soon as we hit 12 months of trying we started the infertilty testing. Until you hit the year mark relax and have fun. After you hit the year mark feel free to feel like smacking anyone who tells you to relax and have fun! Good luck to you. I hope you get a positive test soon and never have to deal with infertility.
