Anyone else expecting after a myomectomy (fibroid surgery)

Hello all,

Had a crapload of fibroids that made 2014 apretty miserable year health-wise. I had an open myomectomy in February of this year and was told I wouldnt be able concieve for at least 6 months well my LMP was almost 6 months to the day. My fIRST OB appt showed a strong healthy baby but due to my surgery I cant have a natural birth (uterine muscles are scarred). So I found out Illbe delivering at 37weeks(late april- but i aint leaving the May grouplol). Are there any other post myomectomy pregnancies in the group?

Re: Anyone else expecting after a myomectomy (fibroid surgery)

  • I didn't have fibroids,I had polyps which I had surgery for and i have pcos which I take metformin. I am 8weeks pregnant with identical twins. Babies will be most likely born at 36 weeks if not earlier via c section. I'm not leaving may either!!

  • I had a myomectomy in 2011. Since then I've had two c-sections (2012 and 2014). This will be my last one. The c-section recovery was WAY easier then myomectomy surgery. Feel free to ask me any questions? Why a c-section at 37 weeks vs the standard 39 week c-section? My Dr won't let me schedule mine till I'm exactly 39 weeks. With my first I was 39 weeks with my second I was 39 weeks 5 days.

  • @NMason505 illdefinitely have questions. What makes the healing easier. Myomectomy healing was horrible. I cried everyday!!!! Im not sure why 37 weeks she said 37 or 39. She is going to be in contact with my surgeon (whom she thabkfully mention she knew very well from med school) im hoping for longer than 37 so the baby can develop more.
  • @amyk0203 wow 36 weeks!? Im sure that's to ensure the safest delivery !!
  • Yes it's to ensure safety of course!! They hope to let babies stay longer just depends on the room they have
  • I'm not sure if it was the need to heal quicker, since I needed to care a cute snuggly baby. I asked to be up walking around around 6 hours post surgery, which I think it helped. I hate wearing a hospital gown, so I wanted to be up and changed. Ask for a binder and have the nurses help you put it on.
