Wedding Rings - Anyone Wearing Theirs Yet?

Anyone able to wear their wedding ring yet? I'm 4 weeks post-partum and my ring isn't even close to being able to go over my knuckle. My fingers themselves don't appear to be swollen, but I think my knuckles are bigger! Anyone else?

STMs, did your knuckles get bigger and if so, did they ever shrink or are they here to stay? Wondering how to wait before I decide to get my ring resized ... I miss wearing it!

Re: Wedding Rings - Anyone Wearing Theirs Yet?

  • P.S. I'm about 20 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight (gained almost 60 when pregnant, mostly fluid).

I was able to get mine back on at about 3 weeks pp. I was down 14 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight though. I will say they initially felt kind of tight but I think it was because I went so long without wearing them. I had to take them off at about 14 weeks. After a few days it felt normal again.

  • I was able to wear my engagement ring throughout pregnancy because it's a half a size too big. Now I only wear my band which is the correct size. I don't wear the diamond because the prongs are really sharp and scratch LO :( I didn't have much swelling though so I'm probably no help.
  • I just tried today at 3 weeks pp and can't get my rings on :( I'm also not swollen in my hands so I thought they'd fit. Hoping they can fit again soon!
  • I put mine back on about 2 weeks pp
  • Got mine back on at about 2-3 weeks when swelling started to go down. Every woman is different, it will happen.
  • I took mine off a few days before my due date and put them back on a few days after I got home. They fit perfectly but all of a sudden they irritate my finger. I took them off again for a few days and tried putting them back on and they still bother my finger.

  • I also have tried a few times over the last few days but have had no luck- getting them on half way.... hoping in a few weeks, I will have more luck!! :)
  • Mine fit until about three weeks before I had baby, but I took them off at 28 weeks because I had to fly cross country and didn't want to risk swelling from flying. They went back on just shy of a week postpartum. That said, though, I only gained 25 pounds and am already down 15 at two weeks postpartum and had no significant swelling before, during, or after my pregnancy. Very, very glad to be wearing them again - I feel naked without them.

  • I'm 4 weeks out and still don't fit in my rings...shoes, either. It's killing me.
  • I put them back on sometime between 1-2 weeks after delivery
  • I got mine back on at 3 weeks PP but I had dropped 27 lbs of the 37 I put on at that point.
  • Mine fit until week 39 and I put it back on a few days after giving birth, I never really swelled.
  • I swear we are the same person. I gained 50. Lost 30 just in the first week. I'm 20 over my pre pregnancy weight and my rings stop just above my knuckle. I was so excited to wear them again :( guess I have to lose the last 20 before they fit. It has to be the extra 20LBS causing it cause my knuckles don't look any bigger

  • I wore mine throughout pregnancy, during delivery, and after-- haven't had to take it off ever. Not sure why I didn't bc I gained 30 pounds but I'll take it

I wore my engagement ring throughout the whole pregnancy and put my band back on 3 days after giving birth (the day i got home)
Gained like 25 lb now down 28lb
  • I just started wearing mine again a little over 1 week post partum. They are a tiny bit tight but I still have 5lbs to lose to be back to my pre pregnancy weight
  • I am 3 weeks PP, I gained 20lbs and have lost 21lbs so far. I can't get mine over my knuckle either, my fingers don't appear to be swollen. I just want to wear my rings!
  • I took my rings off about week 20 or so. Engagement ring really never fit right after DD#1. I'm able to wear both comfortably now (5 weeks PP) and have been for a few weeks.

  • I put mine back on about 2 weeks pp

    Same here

  • Well, I tried to put mine on last night. I'm 5 weeks PP. My pre pregnancy jeans went on okay so I figured I would try my rings. They went on okay, but started to feel tight and my finger got super swollen. I couldn't get them off. Hubby and I tried everything. We ended up having to go an urgent care center and I had to get them cut off. I cried so hard. I'm still upset about it. My finger is still swollen and the ring cut into my finger. My E ring was okay and can be fixed (which was the most expensive one) but my wedding band is in half. I'm so upset...

Oh no! My coworker said the same thing happened to her mom when she was a month or so post-partum. Maybe it's a good thing mine don't fit yet so I can't even attempt it.
  • I've been wearing mine since about a week after having ds2.

  • Swelling is the one thing that didn't happen to me side effect wise. Never took them off.
  • I have lost more than I gained this pregnancy and I am almost 3 weeks pp but I haven't put my rings back on yet. I have a plain band I have been wearing that I normally wear on my middle finger and it is still too tight to go on my middle finger. I hope that they fit soon. My hands don't look swollen so I hope they aren't just bigger.

  • I never had to take mine off. I didn't have my fingers swell during my pregnancy. My feet and ankles were the victims of the swelling instead. The only time that I didn't wear my rings were when I was in the hospital. Guess I got lucky. Now I'm almost 3 weeks postpartum and I'm still wearing them. :-)
  • I'm 4 weeks pp and my fingers are definitely still too fat.  :(

  • I'm 3 weeks PP and my engagement ring fits, but my wedding ring doesn't. Hoping it's only a few more weeks until I can put it back on!
