Pest control- WWYD?

We live in the south in an older neighborhood which means we have the dreaded 'palmetto bugs' aka roaches. Believe me we keep a VERY clean house even with new babies and keep the trash down, etc but we have the occasional one in the house. We've had Orkin out but since the kids were born I don't have them spray in the house, only outside. I am at the point though it's like what is the lesser of two evils- roaches in my kitchen, near where their bottles etc are, or chemicals sprayed? We have tried natural remedies like vinegar, bay leaves etc and don't leave food out, don't have uncovered trash but it is just impossible. All our neighbors have a similar problem and it's a nice well cared for neighborhood! (I am from the north so this is especially disgusting to me). WWYD to deal with this?

I'm from the south as well. We found an amazing gel that you can put behind furniture, appliances, corners... ect. . It's called advion, I highly recommend it vs. any professional work. GL!

I think most sprays are safe as long as you stay out of the house the appropriate time period so it has time to dry. Just make sure to ask.

We have had brown recluse issues since I was pregnant with my first daughter when we moved into the house. We spray at regular intervals and just make sure all baby stuff is no where near where they are spraying, and we stay out of the house till everything is dry and the smell is gone. You do what have to.

I spray ortho home defense, it has low odor and is safe for pets and people once dried. I also have a professional come in and spray once a month (Massey), I request kid and pet friendly spray due to my own freak out over chemicals as well. I still see them occasionally. It's a southern thing. You don't have to be dirty to get a palmetto bug issue. palmetto bugs are not roaches.. Even tho they are often called that, they aren't. Palmetto bugs are often attracted to bushes, plants (palmetto plants, banana trees, and other tropical like plants), and other dense brush. If this is near your house, consider doing some landscaping

that should help with the problem. Also with all the rain we have had down here lately, palmetto bugs seek indoors for the dry environment.

Lol sorry I seem like a bug expert, but I've lived in floridia majority of my life. The only place I've had an issue with real roaches was when I moved into my apartment.. Our first night in, we walked into the kitchen and our walls were covered!! Those were real roaches. We flipped our can and called the property manager. Pest control told us it'd take 6 months to rid of them.. -_-. I hated it. Haven't had an issue since but the people who lived here before us were nasty mofos

We live in South Texas. We had roaches, spiders, pharaoh ants, fire ants, drain flies, and kept a clean house but these things kept coming back. After waging a war with the bugs, we gave in and called the professionals. They spray every 3 months and everything is now under control.

We had palmetto bugs s few years ago. They sprayed our kitchen once and they were gone. I took everything out of the kitchen while they sprayed and put it back after the time period they gave us. It sucked, but it was better than thinking about those chemicals that close to our food and dishes, etc.

My dad works for terminex. He says, he personally would not use any chemicals in his house unless it was an infestation and he tried everything else because they are linked to leukemia... even though they are approved to be used.
