I am in my first trimester (5 weeks) and have been taking pre-natals vitamins with 800 mcg of Folic Acid. I bought some Luna bars as a mid-morning snack to keep at work. These claim to have Folic Acid but the box does not say how much each bar contains.
My question is: Is is safe to keep taking 800mcg of Folic Acid and also have one of these Luna Bars when I start to get hungry in the morning before lunch?
Yes. Today I had a prenatal vitamin and a huge helping of kale salad at lunch, in addition to a boat-load of steamed collard greens for dinner last night. OD'ing on folic acid never occurred to me I just genuinely love my leafy greens! Luna bars are yummy too. I eat them for breakfast sometimes.
