I am so excited about being pregnant (first time) and I wish I could get a sono at every doctor visit!! It's like killing me lol anyone else feel this way or am I just overly excited?
I'm lucky as well my doc does them every visit! I go every 4 weeks. @UnbreakableKimmySchmidt You could always ask to schedule an app for it earlier than that. It doesn't hurt to ask..if you haven't already.
I've been lucky too and gotten one at each of my three visits. My first pregnancy ended in a MMC, so my doctor is well aware of my anxiety and told me if I needed to come in every week to check growth then that's what we'd do if it made me feel better. As long as everything looks good, I'll have three more ultrasounds (NT on Wednesday, 20 week anatomy, and then one at 30something weeks)
I get a sono every appointment so I thought it was standard! Now I know I'm lucky too! But I dunno if I could wait till 20weeks - I'm sure they'll take you before then - I'd try and ask for an u/s.
I wish could get one every week! It's the only time I don't have that nagging voice in the back of my head wondering if it's still ok (especially now that my first trimester symptoms have mostly gone away).
I only get one at 20 weeks so long as everything is normal. I complained and complained to friends/family with DD - and then got 3 more because she wasn't growing properly. I'd love more, but this time around I'm just happy I don't need more (yet). I agree that a "home u/s" like a home Doppler would be awesome, but my perspective has changed a lot this pregnancy.

There's a legitimate reason why that scan is scheduled at 18-22 (usually ~20w) and it has nothing to do with potentially finding out the sex of the baby (which is what most people seem to be concerned about). The fetal heart structures and other vital organs are best viewed at this time and that's the purpose of the scan - to make sure all of the baby's anatomy is forming correctly. You wouldn't want to move it very far out of that window one way or the other. Maybe you could try for adding another u/s but don't move your 20w scan!
Yes, I wish I could see the baby more often. In Brazil (my native country), women have an ultrasound at every appointment. Including the 3D ones with details of the baby's face as it gets closer to term. My brazilian friends and family cannot understand why I only have a few ultrasounds… Such a different culture/ practice.
I have had one at every visit. It is exciting to see them change. If you want another you can always try a third party place. I got a fetal doppler so even if I can't see baby all the time I can check in every once in awhile and hear baby's heart beat.
