Exercise ball?

Anyone else using/used an exercise ball to help get things going? I'm 39w today, only 1 cm dilated and 90% effaced. I am hoping the bouncing and hip rotation will help get him into place.

Has anyone had success with this?

Re: Exercise ball?

  • If you want to get baby in place try going to a chiropractor. In my experience an exercise ball is just a comfortable place to sit, nothing more...

  • I started using mine a couple wks ago for back/pelvic pain and it helped so much!
  • I've been using one as my chair or spot to sit in the house since 6 months!
  • Baby will come when ready. The exercise ball helps with bip/back pain and for comfort though! Remember ANY home remedy for "getting things going" is only going to "work" if your body and baby is ready.
  • Exercise balls scare me. I know a lot of women use them during pregnancy but I personally witnessed a coworker pop one while sitting near me in the office. She flew back and hit her head on the wall hard enough to get a concussion. I have a hard time trusting them especially during pregnancy.

  • They are supposed to help open your pelvis and make your labor/delivery easier.. It also helps stretch your back and hips.. I'm 39weeks and 2 days and have been bouncing on one everyday for about 20-30min for the last 2.5weeks.. You are supposed to bounce on them very lightly though.. It also helps the baby drop down into the pelvis..
