What gift would you get her?

I'm going to visit my sister for a little girls' day pampering on Sunday with my mom and other sister.  All three of us are pregnant, but this sister is the one due in a few weeks.  She has a little boy already, and this baby is a girl.  I got her a cute little book, but i'd like to pick up something else?  Any thoughts?  I do not want to get her clothes, she has been gifted a ton already.  For those who had two children of opposite sexes, was there anything special you wanted for the second?  A lot of the "stuff" she has from son she can use for this little girl, since he's only 2.

Re: What gift would you get her?

  • Do you know what nursery theme or colors she is doing? Maybe a nice blanket or something decorative for the nursery? I have a boy already and having a girl this time and the nursery décor is really the only thing other than clothes that we are getting new.

  • I second the blanket idea. You could get her a small soft animal or lovey that she can play with earlier on or a little toy like soft blocks or something. My girls loved those.
  • My standard "hey you're going to have a baby" pack includes a Sassy brand Jitter Bug, a GroVia diaper rash stick, and a book. They are my absolute favorite things for DD to this day.
  • Maybe you could get her something more of a keepsake for having a daughter? A willow tree/precious moments figure or something similar? I am in the same situation as your sister, and I love receiving little keepsakes.

While a thoughtful idea, she is not at all a keepsake/precious moments kind of girl!
  • I second a girly baby blanket for sure! I had a son first and then a daughter, and she always had a boys blanket on! We got many "he's so cute" because of the blankets lol So something more girly would be perfect!

  • Please not a blanket! EVERYONE gives blankets. We literally got nearly two dozen blankets and babies don't even use blankets. We ended up using the handmade ones and stuck the rest in a closet. I feel guilty whenever I see all those untouched beautiful gifts. Then again, maybe that was just some weird fluke with us.

One gift we got for our twins that was cute and unique was wooden stools with their names as big puzzle pieces. Super cute and the girls love them. When I was a baby someone gifted a stool with my name painted on it and I loved that for my whole childhood.

YES on those stools! My brother, sister, and I all had those growing up too and we used them for AGES, first when younger to reach the sink, etc., but later they stayed in our rooms, we used them to reach stuff high up in our closets, to help our pets get into bed, whatever. A totally personal, meaningful, USEFUL gift!
