Ultrasound tech didn't want to do my ultrasound, felt her opinion trumped my Doctor's order...

I was very displeased that I was scheduled for an ultrasound and the tech didn't want to do it. My doctor ordered it the week before and wanted to reassure me that everything was okay. I arrived 15 min late because of an accident. I called to inform the staff. The tech just made up her mind and decided I didn't need one because I had one done two weeks ago. This was discussed with my doctor who knew this already and she made the decision to schedule one for me, I just didn't make a last minute schedule appear. I was upset because I have to use PTO and had to work extra hours to make up time to come to these three appointments. It wasn't last minute either that they were scheduled well in a week in advanced. I understand I was late. Alot of people were late but how is that what you think/say overruled what my doctor ordered a week ago. I was upset and I let the front desk staff know how I felt, they really didn't seem to care and seem oblivious to my concerns. People have to schedule time off work, use PTO, & make up time for work they've missed. I feel this tech was making excuses to not do my ultrasound and got a doctor involved to cover herself to not get in trouble. The doctor mentioned that "she" was going to call me ahead of time to inform me. Yeah, when I was already on my way there? This just ruined my day, poor last minute decision making, poor customer service, & making excuses because you didn't want to do your job.

    I am so sorry that happened to you. Its not their job to decide that, its the doctors. They must not have kids because then they would know even more how having ultrasounds puts at ease. My doc wouldnt even do them, 1 got one the whole time. She said eveything seems normal so theres no need. I was pissed! I also understand the taking time off and everything, having to use PTO time. It isnt fair. I hope your able to reschedule on your time!

    Thanks sooo much! I really needed that sooo much! One of the MA's was like she probably didn't want to do it. Everyone was running late, I wouldn't have been upset if she said we can reschedule it! About two weeks ago I was worried bc the MW told me baby was breeched, thankfully I had an ultrasound to confirm he wasn't! That prompted my dr to order an ultrasound!

    I am a FTM... So everything worries me... I mean who was she to trump the dr's orders then try to get another dr to cover for her? Smh!

    Definitely not the tech's decision but just try to relax. Babies can flip at the last possible second. This is baby 3 and I have only had one US with each. ♡

    Thank you... Just everything irks me lately. I really shouldn't complain... I've had more u/s then others and I should be grateful.

    We had a situation where we had one scheduled a month in advance. Since it was the last ultrasound I had scheduled, we invited my mother-in-law to come and see. The scheduler didn't see a reason for the ultrasound and cancelled it off the schedule at the beginning of the day. No call, no notification, no reason. My husband had to flip out in the doctors office, but he convinced the doctor and tech to find a medical reason to give us one. I have one weekly now, but that's because I'm high risk. I wasn't at that time.

    High-risk also but they should've put a reason and called ahead of time.
